When I first saw Ahsoka I felt that she was very poorly written as opposed to the animation but this episode makes things so clear what her arc is. After learning about Anakin becoming Vader she lost faith in herself which is why she seems so stoic and jaded compared to the clone wars where she still has her spirited energy. Even after meeting Luke, (and learning of Vader turning back to the light in his final moments), she doesnt automatically revert back to her pre rebels self. She has to find that self belief for herself which is what Force Ghost Anakin means when he says you lack conviction. In addition to that, Sabine's faith in herself as potential Jedi and her faith in Ahsoka as a master gives both of them the belief that each of them needs. What a phenomenal show!!!!! Cannot wait to see what happens next in the FIloni verse!! Thank you Mended Light for this remarkably profound episode!! Really hope yall do a cinema therapy episode for Ahsoka soon cuz I feel like theres enough content about her for it. But I am also curious where she goes from here considering she already feels like the prime jedi.

I thought the Ahsoka series was excellent; your pretty much spot on. I loved how when Sabine believed in herself fully and needed to fight to save herself from being killed, reaching out to connect to the Force she was finally able to.

power comes from a need. not a desire. I suspect that was why she struggled before. nothing surprises me about her progress -- know how the Force works, who she is as a person and her culture -- it was expected.

My takeaway from this episode is actually Iroh’s quote. It’a wonderful if I have people believing in me and supporting in me, but even if I don’t, I shouldn’t lose faith in myself and not let others talk me off but instead work towards my goals and trust that I can do it, no matter what other people might think of it.

There is a lot more to what Sabine has been through that makes her behave the way she does. In Rebels it is revealed that in her time at the Imperial Acadamy she made weapons that were turned on her own people and when she spoke out and ran to her family they stood with the Empire, forcing her on the run. She tried to be a bounty hunter, but her close friend left her for dead. Sabine would eventually reconcile with both her family and friend, but the overall experience left her with abandonment and trust issues. Something Ahsoka ended up triggering in her when she left. Fast forward to Kanan, a father figure to her, died saving her, Hara and Ezra from an explosion. Then Ezra in his own sacrifice taking Thrawn as far away as possible. Now fast forward again to the start of Ahsoka. The Ghost Crew as long since gone their separate ways. Her people have been massacred, her family among the dead and Ahsoka (albeit out of her own fears) left her in a time of need. Sabine is extremely depressed at that point. This is why I feel people have been far too harsh on her character over her decision to surrender to Baylan. At that point she was pushed to her breaking point. She has lost everything, Ahsoka is dead as far as she knew and all she had left was finding Ezra. Baylan played on that, and it is clear that Sabine struggled with the decision but in the end caved into her desperation because she had nothing else.

Sabine Wren is one of my favorite Star Wars characters next to Ahsoka, Padme, and Obi-Wan. Out of all the characters she is the one I connected to the most. We are both artists (writer for me, visual artist for Sabine). We both struggled as black sheep in our respected biological family and culture. In addition struggled to believe in ourselves and feel that others believe in us too. Thank you for touching on things that are near and dear to me. On the note of Ahsoka and Sabine, I feel that Sabine also struggled with her identity through her losses. Mandalorians value family and protecting your people. Not being able to keep her promise to Ezra in finding him and then losing her biological family made her feel less of a Mandalorian. Hence Ahsoka's fear I believe that Sabine decided to discard her Mandalorian identity for a Jedi one (in what Ahsoka's belief was for revenge). She wore the armor again because it was needed, but did not feel worthy. Through finding Ezra, Ezra's belief in her, and Ahsoka ready to be there for makes her feel like a Mandalorian again. That is why she picked up her helmet at the end versus the moment on Seatos because she protected her chosen family by finding them (Ezra and Ahsoka). In the process of embracing her Mandalorian identity again she was able to access the Force within her.
@madelinegarber7860 Жыл бұрын
I love that second bit of not feeling worthy of her Mandalorian identity because her biological family died and she couldn’t protect them and her found family left for one reason or another or had other obligations. It took her and Qhsoka mending their relationship and her finding Ezra to re:establish her belief in herself and heer worthiness to embrace her Mandalorian identity and tap into the force. In other words she learned that the answer wasn’t to discard one identity over another, but to balance the two.

I really liked the series, Sabine is probably my favorite character in all of star wars, so I was waiting the whole time for them to mess her up, but they didn't (some things could be improved but nothing deal-breaking, hopefully the new union contracts cover those weaknesses). I feel like you got most of it, but an anaysis of Sabine really isn't complete without covering her fight with Kanan in trials of the darksaber. She's changed in the ten years since rebels which is right as people age, but at her core she's still Sabine "everything I did was for family" Wren and she couldn't make a different choice than the ones she made in this series.

I see Sabine as becoming one of the most powerful in history... certainly surpassing Yoda. I also see her being the most important person in history. I see Sabine becoming Mandalore. I see Sabine rebuilding her people and teaching them the ways of the Force. I see Sabine replacing the Republic and the Jedi and imparting her values to the galaxy. and dedicating her culture to maintaining balance. I really liked the show because it really delves into the master-apprentice relationship and what it means to trust yourself and trust others. It did that super-well. As a Star Wars show, it left other things so vague that could have added so much depth to the arcs of all the characters. But I think you honed in on the one thing it did really well. You going to do Ashoka too - and her master-apprentice relationship with Anakin? That would be amazing! … and Thank you for your brilliant and compassionate insight!

Thank you. So many misjudged Sabine saying that she was a bad character (or worse they said they got Sabine wrong). Not realizing that both Ahsoka and Sabine are frozen at the start of the series. Ahsoka got the shock because Anakin always was a "tough love" mentor(as shown in CW and the TOTJ short Practice Makes Perfect). And you could see the change in how she treated Sabine and it improved their overallrelationship. The master Padawan bond in this show is amazing

Can you do an Ahsoka psychology of a hero? Or Sabine. Sabine’s intro was awesome. I’m interested to see what her arc is like in future projects. Or Ezra. His arc is great too. I’m not sure how I feel about Sabine becoming a jedi even if it’s for the right reasons. She was a great character as just a Mando. But I loved her journey of how she got there and feeling worthy of both identities. She doesn’t feel worthy to be a Mandalorian because she couldn’t protect her biological or found families and lost them both for a time. And she didn’t feel worthy to be a jedi because Ahsoka walked away and she never had a strong connection to the force like Ezra did. It took her finding balance and setting things right with Ahsoka and Wzra and their belief im her for her to finally find the on switch and tap into the force and find that sense of calm and peace that you mentioned.

Thanks for making me appreciate the show a bit more. While I really like these characters I was not a fan of the show. The heir to the empire books are just hard to top and the only reason I read them was cause I was hyped for ahsoka. It’s a poor adaptation if you can even call it that. Being a hardcore Star Wars fan since 6(more like core now) and loving ahsoka in the animated series I understand what they’re going through for the most part but in no way do I get how anyone who hasn’t watched the 11 seasons of television would understand any of this. Maybe I’ll come around to it thanks to you but it was advertised as not needing to watch anything beforehand and that they’d be adapting heir to the empire(btw heir to the empire follows Luke, Han, Leah and some others so I already knew it would be different but it has no right to be called an adaptation after watching that full season)

Because many of us are our own worst critics, we need outside help. With respect to Star Wars, there is not a lot of Jedi mentor choices. It would have been advantageous for Wren to rely on non-Jedi mentors. (She had an all-star contact list.)
