I'm owner of this table. Originally it belonged to my grand-grandparents. I have grand memories of spending time behind it with my grandfather and sharing grandmother delicious meals with all others. Now it is in my home, with the story behind it. I'm truly happy that I could resist temptation to do it my self. Ahti did a great job and I believe that otherwise it would have stood in my barn for several more years. Anyway, this table has sentimental value to me and is great Christmas present to my own family. In times of 1950s the vast majority of people can't afford solid hardwood furniture (after II WW). Actually I believe that it was not even possible to by new one. Because of all that nationalization and focusing only to mass production by Soviet Union.

I too have veneered large-ish areas, I used a vacuum bag system with roller applied pva, switch on the vacuum pump, leave overnight very successful, if you are doing a top like you did there is a risk the veneer will bend and crack at the edges, to get round this, put a frame around the table top to the same height, this will support the veneer, to avoid the veneer gluing to the frame, put brown vinyl packing tape on the frame it, works every time. Oh, nice job, lovely and useful table too.
