First I made my way to Cơm tấm Ba Ghiền, Absolutely amazing food, honestly. The meat was very flavorful and the meatball was a new experience! Highly recommended.

Then I made my way to the Thai Binh Market, both the noodles and the bun bao was very tasty and cheap! Rest of the market is fairly small and not much to see.

After that I went to the famous Banh Xeo 46A, I had pretty low expectations of this since there were a lot of tourists. I was kind of underwhelmed but it’s not BAD.

And after the pancake I went to the most popular Banh Mi places in Saigon it’s called Huynh Hoa Bakery, OMG i love that place so much, totally worth the ’overprice’ for that flavor!

Lastly I was recommended by my local friend from Saigon to try Bun bo, which is a noodle dish with fermented seafood paste, The dish was really tasty and the noodles were stunning.

Ban xeo is supposed to be wrapped in herbs and veggies and dipped in the sauce... you also need to doctor up the sauce with hot peppers for extra kick... you missed out if you eat it improperly... there's a reason it's so popular

You missed the herb when you ate the vietnamese pancake "bánh xèo" , that's why you feel that food was kind of greasy. If you use herbs to roll the pancake, then dip it into the fish sauce, it will make you can't stop eating "bánh xèo"

Good job, man! I haven't been back since leaving there at 5 yrs old, but this video could be a reason I do... Btw, the veggie bowl that came with the Banh Xeo dish is actually the sauce you pour on top for flavor, or else it's bland (throw in lettuce to balance the grease). The Bun Bo Hue is my favorite soup dish (next to Pho, ofc)... There is a huge Vietnamese community here in New Orleans where we get all the delicacies also... Thanks for posting this

First time watching your channel. You got some of the most loved foods in this video. However, I wish you had a local with you the whole time to show you how to properly eat everything. I wish more foreigners would ask the locals how something should be eaten or ask the vendors to show them how to eat the food. The thing about com tam is it should be eaten all together in one perfect bite - I may have missed it, but did you even douse your plate with the flavored fish sauce?

I may have missed it, but the banh xeo was eaten totally wrong or the vendor did not provide you a plate full of herbs and veggies to go with it. Banh xeo is always eaten wrapped in lettuce and herbs and dipped in the flavored fish sauce. It creates once again that perfect bite - the culinary yin and yang of sweet, salty, sour, herby, crunchy, etc., combination that Vietnamese food is known for. Wrapping things up in lettuce and topping with herbs then dipping in fish sauce is how we at lot of stuff, including our fried spring rolls or a lot of fried stuff.

You wrongly ate Com Tam! You suppose to shower the whole plate with the fish sauce mixed with red pepper. Next, you mix everything on your plate thoroughly. Then, you eat it. The egg thing is called "Cha". It consists of egg, wood mushroom, vermicelli noodle, and herbs.

After watching your video re: :”bánh xèo” aka Vietnamese crepes, you’re supposed to eat it with lots of green veggies in a roll up, dip it in your little bowl of the fermented mixed fish sauce. That’s how you can pick up the other flavor. Good video though.
