To artists like me that was scared of AI, don't buy into the fear mongering, what you should be concerned about is your own work. A person typing prompts into this machine and getting good results will never be able to feel the same joy you feel when working on a piece for days on end. Nothing will compare to the catharsis of painting, drawing and inking something YOU made.

As an artist, I've come to find through my experiences in experimenting with various AI image generators that we're not going to be replaced. Of course, an AI can generate a lot of beautiful images, some that a fair number of people might not have thought to draw or create. It's good for bringing some ideas to life, things that an AI can visualize quite easily; at the end of the day, however, the AI doesn't think the way most artists do. The things AI create are absolutely impressive, as is the technology, but there's some things it can't create. I think to all the character designs and the concept art for items in games, I think of the oddly specific details that a person would want a sea-fairing cargo ship that can also travel in space to have. Rather than seeing AI generated art, I believe it can be used as a tool in the future. Have an AI create an image that can be refined or reworked to be what a person needs, or give someone ideas to create something else entirely on their own. If one day AI truly replaces all artists, down to the weird and unusual things many of us can come up with in our minds, I'll eat my sketchbook.

@hhoop38762 жыл бұрын
@@e1622zelda It’s true that over time the AI will get better, but human art and the study of it will live on. Art in itself is a reflection of human life, you can see the all the different decisions that were made into making the piece, and even the context it was made in affects this. That’s what gives it meaning. AI art is interesting because it LACKS the human element, asking it to spit out an image is a novelty in itself, and gets old. Beyond the basic prompt, AI art has nothing to dissect, there’s no emotional connection we can make to it other than just ‘liking’ it, due to its novelty. In the future, We’ll still be analyzing the great artists of the past because of the deeper human connection we feel towards it. AI art is consumed and forgotten.
@karno66792 жыл бұрын
It’s also not human art- much of the joy of art is going wow, I can’t believe another human did that, I can’t do that, and it looks so real! As well as the art styles people create. Tbh ai art, while it looks cool, is not going to replace human drawn art because having something do it for you takes away the point of art. Yeah if you just want a pretty picture, it’s there, but for series, comics, picture books, graphic design, it’s all gonna stay human because otherwise the point is gone

Being an artist is always a tough path in professional life, if you want to stay an artist go physical like sculpting or dance choreo because robotics are far behind AI currently. You could become an AI programmer and help accelerate AI taking over the economy, that way the world society will be forced to adapt by making joblessness the norm and a comfortable lifestyle. Even just being a programmer is a good bet because everyone is too scared to give AI the ability to code, so far.

If you're any good then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. if ai art becomes anything good then it'll just be another tool artists will add to their toolbelt. there was a similar fear of 3d modeling programs replacing artists and it didn't happen, it just became another tool for artists to use. If anything if ai does become good it can really help artists with their workflow.

This is not correct lol. The seed will not "use the same image", the seed is the algorithm for the initial "noise" that is used as a base to generate an image, and using a "seed" is really only helpful for generating similar pieces of art while using the same prompt. If you were to type a completely different prompt in, even with the same seed, the image will be completely different, because all the seed does is effect the noise initialization by setting the noise algorithm to a specific value instead of a random value each time you generate an image. You're thinking of using the "initial image" feature, which is right below the seed function in DeamStudio. This would allow you to use another image as a starting point. You can combine the "seed" and "initial image" features but they are two different functions. Source: I use MidJourney, Dall-E 2, and DreamStudio. My preference is MidJourney, because their "--seed", "--beta", "--testp", "--ar:" and "--creative" arguments result in some of the highest quality images (obviously depending on the prompt) out of any AI image generator. And I've used a lot.

As an artist myself I knew from a young age that the market was over-saturated. A lot of people don’t understand that the art market has already been falling apart. Most of the rising artists weren’t going to have a chance anyways. In this day and age you can’t have a full job just doing art unless you’re lucky. It’s best as a second job unless you are going into specific fields but even then competition is fierce. I honestly think this will slim the numbers for a while and help the market stabilize. Ai can do a lot but I doubt it’s direct communication with a client. For it is not just an instruction it is an artistic vision that an ai must grab. So while I feel like ai art will replace certain jobs there will always be a need for human artists for specific qualities. And actually traditional art might be on the rise again now. Digital art has dominated for a while. I’m honestly interested in the future.

I thought so too when I was younger. But I've become a freelance artist in the last few years and realized there is a lot of money to make if you know where to look and how to present yourself. Of course it's not easy at first, but you can make it. AI is quite worrysome thought. Companies are greedy and of course they will use AI instead of paying artists if possible. But the brighter side of AI just being an aid to speed up the workflow also seems icky.... Art is something that is supposed to take time. I think that one essence of art is not rushing it, thinking it over. But nowaday artists are forced into being creative factories, producing artwork after artwork fast and even more so now :(

@augervongaribaldi2 жыл бұрын
@@wilnonis Artists already have to rush with actual jobs. If you are not fast or productive enough than someone will replace you so I feel like the time argument makes no sense. Freelance art is very different from the majority of the art business world because it is where most make success these days but it’s unstable and nonsensical with value. You’re telling me you make 30-50k a year through art though? If not then you are struggling with pay as an artist like the majority. I’d be impressed with 25k. If you do then you are lucky. Yes there are niche areas of market and buyer subcultures but you have to be lucky to find them. They always will get found in the end as well and you have to hope to stay relevant and keep your monopoly and clients. You can not with confidence say someone will make it. One of the biggest issues in the entertainment industry is visual artist saturation. Game studios have too many artists and not enough game designers. Movies have too many CGI artists and not enough good writers. It's created this hilariously dire situation in where artists are disposable, rushed, and wasted. These are the artists that will be replaced first, no doubt. You are underestimating just how good AI will get at artistic vision, it won't even be that long until AI has better artistic vision than people. There will never be a need for a human artist in the future, in-fact, there's never been a need for a human artist ever. All of art is convincing people something that does nothing has value, and as long as rich people exist, professional freelance art will exist. So you are right in that sense that art cannot be replaced entirely.

you know as an artist I think this really eliminates our own need to problem solve and find the best way to reach the final artwork on our own, there's nothing like seeing a blank canvas and the satisfaction you get from putting the artwork on it from your own skill. The fact that it takes away our need to solve problems just seems like our brains will stagnate and be overly reliant on AI for everything and as a member of gen z we've de-evolved enough already

A picture can’t replicate an art style, that’s one of the main reasons art prevailed, it fundamentally offered a different end experience compared to a picture. AI art can replicate art styles and could even create its own, in a sense it is offering the same end experience as hand drawn/digital art but with the advantage of taking thousands of times less to do each drawing and not requiring the years of experience people do. AI art essentially provides the same end experience as human art, but without the time and cost inconvenience.

A CFG higher than 8 will begin to ignore parts of your prompt to focus on what it believes to be the "main elements", simplifying what you asked for quite a bit; you generally want CFG around 6-8. This is part of the reason why you couldn't get it to draw the ninja on the moon, or make characters in action scenes; it's not that SD is not capable. Also, steps higher than 50 on most samplers will DIVERGE rather than CONVERGE to the prompt, which takes it further away from what you want. And inputting a seed will start the AI off from that "position", based on the prompt, which is why people were telling you to remove it to get different results.

This is one of the biggest misunderstandings about this technology, is doesn't. I could right now, download the 8 GB stable diffusion model, turn off the internet, run it and it will give my the same results. It doesn't sample images from the Internet, the AI has an actual abstract understanding of Language and Art but it learned this form images on the internet. This brings up a large legal dilemma. Is training an AI on someone else art theft of dose it, like with humans count as inspiration?
@chosenone61582 жыл бұрын
@@Broken_Mesh he probably means it trained on images found on the internet not that it uses internet. Also this model is built using an open source dataset (from laion) with images that are unlicensed or free to use for any purpose so there is no art theft involved here, if they have an issue probably stop uploading images without licensing and only sell to private clients or something (and not be annoyed if they too use it for some dataset)

Listen I'm an artist myself and the reality is the AI revolution is inevitable and it's going to affect a lot more than just 2D artists. We are at a point where AI can make perfect 3D models, rigging and animation from a still image. AI can clone a voice just by listening to a 30 second clip. Text to code already exists and text to videos is coming. What I'm saying is yeah it's rough. But you can't stop it. All you can do is adapt and learn to embrace these new tools. What it means is that governments will need to implement UBI very soon because millions of artists, modelers, animators, programmers and voice actors are about to lose their job.

You cannot deny that AI art will definitely help indie companies save some much needed money for more important things than to give it to an artist (talented or otherwise) and then wait for a long time for them to finish said art
@merileopardisaksassa70302 жыл бұрын
@@Frawst_ I agree on the concept, and am aware how long creating artistic resources takes for indie games. I'd argue nevertheless that indie games especially need personality and a lot of that stems from consistent worldbuilding, depicted by an iconic art style. Good concept art for games is based off of deep considerations for what the game stands for and what it is trying to say, which AI should not be responsible for in my opinion. Ai for both writing and visual art are being developed rapidly and can surely grease the wheels of production by helping artists do their work more efficiently when used properly, but I am afraid of potential overuse or replacement of artists resulting in souless/ meaningless works and lost jobs. There are so many incredibly talented artists that work for minimum wages, so it is ridiculous to me that creative is one of the first things that need to be cheapened out on. Ofc to everyone their own opinion, but I am just concerned as an artist (despite working in a physical medium for my living so nothing really changes for me), even if the dedication and ingenuity of the teams developing these Ai is awesome.

From what I've seen the art can be good and it's only going to get better with time I still think money should go to an artist, if a corporation or individual can afford it... It was not my intention to make it seem otherwise. I'm merely stating that the potential benefits of the AI generated art cannot be so easily ignored
