I have been a Designer for over 20 years, Photoshop was always the go-to tool for everything around image manipulation. As soon as they announced that they were going to integrate generative AI features into Photoshop, it was clear to me that Photoshop would stay the leading industry standard for the above-mentioned use-case(s). I am also utterly stunned by how well that generative fill works. That accelerates the work of each designer so much that it is hard to grasp ;) Well done, Adobe.

I think Photoshop definitely nailed it this time. I don’t have to worry installing this and that. I don’t have to figure out what are the setting like AI model, ratio sizes what not. I love all the traditional artists that use photoshop have to be exposed to this in their own program. This is exactly how AI gets integrated. In all of those programs like this, After Effecte, Maya Blender etc. Midjourney is too separate from their own processing system, it’s also too random and not enough control. We’re getting there! The whole GAN dragging the image thing recently is amazing because that’s again exactly what will take AI generative images into the mainstream workflow, because look at how much control you’re getting!

I’ve used Photoshop for years and even the first two Stablediffusion plugins. This is definitely a must have tool. Hopefully, this feature will be included in the cloud subscription. Now, imagine if Adobe could integrate this with the Substance 3D tools, and After Effects. Game changer for sure!

When Adobe started the subscription model many years ago now, Photoshop was $10 a month, as a sort of an introductory price. After all the flack they took, they decided to keep it at $10 a month and it has never changed. I think this addition may now make Photoshop worth a lot more, even if you already get something like 42 other programs with the Photographer's Package. I have heard that once it makes its way into the stable release, there will be credits involved. I hope that the $10 package price can be maintained and maybe just charge for use of the Firefly stuff. I won't likely need it every day, but when I want it, I want it...

Not everyone has nvidia rtx videocard to run this stuff offline and if opensource could kill adobe it would already be dead. It's definitely overhyped since Stable Diffusion can do everything Adobe Firefly can and more but it's not the matter of it being better but a matter of adobe being a go to brand for this kind of stuff so 95% of people who will ever hear about in/outpainting will only know that adobe can do it and not know about less known opensource projects at all. Which means they can ask any price they want for it.

@@xn4pl Well, open source Blender did, in fact, displace previous giants like Maya and 3dsMax (the later being an adobe product). Those still exist, but they're comparatively small and I never hear anyone suggesting using them anymore. If a similar level of organization could get behind a full fledged photoshop alternative (maybe Gimp, but that hasn't happened so far) then it could be displaced. I will also note that stable diffusion runs fine on less than 4GB of vram these days. Even crappy GPUs can use it. Also censorship; how well do you think generative fill works with NSFW subjects? I would guess not at all.

It may happen, but it didn't happen for regular photoshop before the AI explosion. Of course there are free alternatives, and pretty good ones, but photoshop is still the go to for the industry.

This is great. I played around with it a little and maybe my results weren’t quite as good as yours. I added a person to a early evening photo and it looked like they were in bright sun so it just needs a little more context awareness. Also, it creates noticeable boundary lines when cropping the sky or a low detail area. Very excited about this though!

Finally! Adobe is getting on the AI bandwagon. They were falling so far behind. Now you could do some incredible AI manipulating. I think this is great because I’ve slowly migrated away from photo shop in the last two or three years because it was becoming outdated. I seldom used it but I’m still paying for it. I’ve been using Photoshop since version 2.5 and it’s always been the go to software. I think this edition is equally as game changing as when they introduced layers way back then. I'm trying this out at the moment and it's a mixture of either being very impressive or totally wrong lol, but it's only in beta at the moment so that is to be expected. BTW @MattVidPro I told it to add text to an image and it got the text correct (well sort of), I asked it to add the words "this is a test" to an image, but I wanted them to appear as clouds in the sky, Photoshop got the words correct, but it put them in a sort of cloud speech bubble. I mean that could be great if you want to quickly do speech bubbles for cartoon drawings.

Creative Cloud is still too expensive for me. Adobe and Autodesk could easily triple their earnings if they only lowered their prices at least by half. Not only will they bring on board a hefty chunk of freeware/openware users like me, but actually grab a significant share of pirate software users. 99% of Adobe or Autodesk software users I know in my country use pirated copies. Most of them have no problem paying for a monthly subscription of Microsoft 365, but it provides 5 users with 1tb cloud storage and 60 minutes international phone calls for each, for half the price of an Adobe subscription, not to mention all of the Office software for two devices per each user. That is a killer incentive. I know of nobody using Open Office and the percentage of Microsoft pirated software is much lower.

You need to take an business economics class. Why would Adobe (or any company) lower their monthly sub by 50%, affectively raising their floating costs (storage and bandwidth) by 50% or more, and lowering their profit margins, which would knock at least 30% off of their stock price. Lose-Lose. Using MS as an example is also wrong, because a) they own their infrastructure, and b) they have many sources of income besides Windows/Office. Their best performing is Azure where they lease their infrastructure to other companies.
