I've only just recently been made aware that people are shipping Ai and Junko. The only thing they have in common was that they were both performing music idols in life. The big contrast was that Junko was a solo act, and Ai was part of an idol group, and so they sometimes clash with one another. Beyond that, there's no shipping going on in canon. They're just the only real, experienced idols in the cast. Lily was a TV star for like a year, Saki was an icon- not idol- in the 90s, Yugiri was a well-known courtesan with geisha training, Sakura was Kotaro's classmate a decade before the main events of the series, and Tae's whole shtick is that nobody knows anything about her, and she basically doesn't seem to have ever existed in any era or region. So, I really don't get why people are shipping them. I could sort of understand shipping Sakura and Saki just because of the 'big sister' role Saki has taken after gaining respect for Sakura, but at the same time, Saki is more or less the big sister to the whole group, using her experience as a former MC captain to keep everyone in line. She just found a new level of respect when Sakura stood up to her in a rap battle. Again though, she jumped in to defend Lily without a second thought when she believed Lily was in danger, so even the Sakura X Saki ship is pretty weak, and I don't buy into it either. Honestly, I don't see any chemistry between any of the characters in 'that' way.

I See where your coming from, junko and ai's interactions are friendly, and they have been seen in shots with one another and helping each other out, with some casual convasation (and a fight). There's no massive hints they are into each other. But I still like the ship, they have nice chemistry and developed, understanding each others views. And with the others, ai and sakura are friendly and sakura has shown to look up to ai before. However, the anime may not have put in all there is for ai x junko, since there's still the manga and the producers for the anime may have left out some things in the anime.

No real reason to ship them the anime doesn’t show any signs of them being into each other just best friends if any ship is there I’d be sakixsakura or maybe taexsakura tbh I want a yugirixsakura relationship because they had the least interaction with each other so giving them some time to understand each other would be great
