AI Models vs. Human Influencers 🤖

Aitana is an AI model and influencer. Her social media profile clearly says AI and her name begins with those letters too. But people in the comments still think she's real and brands are hiring her as an ambassador. She’s been making headlines for a while and isn’t alone. We think this story is a great lesson in media literacy for a world increasingly shaped by AI.

This reminds me of a twitter post I once saw "The thing about AI domination is that we went about it the wrong way. I don't want AI to make art or write stories for me so I have time to do my chores. I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so I have more time to make arts and write stories"

People who own companies already undervalued their creatives and artists and couldn’t wait to sell out that work. Look at all the AI bros who couldn’t give a rats ass about stealing from artists and said we should “get over it”. Look at the writer’s strike. Animation guild writers gets worse pay than usual Hollywood writers if you look into that whole industry. And it’s all thanks to greedy assholes like Walt Disney. It’s always the top thinking that they can do what we do because it’s so “easy” but they barely have the talent or the way to do it themselves. Now with AI they can freely undervalue people because they took away the skill gap between us and what they couldn’t do. All built on our unwitting backs and completely without our consent (lots of AI models are fed art without asking the artist or even paying them). AI is a nightmare for those of us who actually care about humanity and value the contribution of humans as individuals. Thankfully I think that’s why AI will also fall.

🙄 Should we also require “real” models to disclose how authentic they actually are? With all the filters and retouching done in the past few decades, the models we see on TV and print are only 50% authentic at best. The only reason to disclose if someone is real or artificial is so the creepers can decide which one to stalk.

I have a prediction that this will trend for a while, ridiculously perfect ai art, but then the tides will turn with trends of using more “real” looking people than we’ve ever really seen in mainstream advertising. This look will become seen as “cheap” because we know how it was made and using real models who do not have the ai-trained look (ai women are almost all very similar in appearance) and using models with more unique face shapes and body shapes, maybe even more texture, will become the “high-end” look, because these are the companies using real models
