The curve is about hype, not lack of development. Obviously the models are going to get better, but the technology is becoming a bit a better established and thus people’s expectations are more realistic, less hyped. You’re making an argument against the development slowing down, which is a different discussion 😅

The Hype Cycle is about expectations for HUMAN-engineered technologies (including all current and prior AI). Fairly soon, AI will be engineering AI. The Hype Cycle (for human-engineered technologies) will then no longer be applicable as what will become established will nearly as quickly become outdated. AI continuously re-engineering itself to then continuously re-engineer and invent other technologies will obliterate the concept of the Hype Cycle (of human-engineered technologies). Human hype (expectation/projection/desire of human-engineered technologies) will be no barometer or measure of the success or failure of the age of AI engineering and invention.

@@BigMTBrain agreed. the mathematics and theory being developed in research for this is extremely applicable to a wide variety of fields. if intelligent reasoning can be created with the edge of current research and continuously update its reasoning process in the most optimized way possible based off of the data, then i dont believe the hype can be understated. its recursive self improvement. openai and the rest are trying to optimize development directly. even if expectations are normalized to the capabilities, i still dont see how this wont have a massive impact. humans have always had to externally communicate and share information between each other and across generations. our reasoning process results from a statistically guided process in environments with a lot of variation/noise. it was due to our ingenuity/sapience/intelligent reasoning that we were able to develop technology and iterate on it. our technology can easily disrupt and outperform systems that arose naturally. its difficult to imagine what intelligently designed cognition could be capable of and the technology it could create without having to externalize information, having a knowledge discovery/integration timelag (only bound by algorithmic efficiency), or having nonideal lossy information transfer.

Apart from enhancing intelligence and intellect, if you can please do a video on mental health disorders and how AGI can treat them ASAP or in the near future that’d be awesome!:) My cousin suffers from severe OCD, Schizophrenia and more. It’d be a gem to cover these mental health disorders as well in your next video. Would this be possible? my cousin is going through a rough time even with meds and even with all types of current treatments today he is still not better. I hope AGI and singularity come out ASAP or in the near future. People suffering from mental health disorders badly need it🙏🙏. Last thing, my aunt works in a medical camp and she sees all sorts of people with brain disorders/mental health disorders and they are suffering mentally and psychologically . It is sad:( Last comment I wanted to share with you here and thanks so much🥰. My cousin who has severe OCD and unfortunately has cognitive issues as well. I was trying to get him to read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury but he just couldn’t. I went to the library with him last week and he couldn’t read through one paragraph of Fahrenheit 451. We tried ebooks, kindle and more but he just couldn’t read at all After taking tons of drugs, research chemicals he went through psychosis. Now he is on medication for his conditions and he is 29 years old. He doesn’t have the same hobbies and he isn’t able to have the same attention span and intellect like he used to in high school. Also he doesn’t leave his house sometimes for days. I know all this about him because I used to tutor him in World History when he was in high school and teaching him that would require reading tons of pages in a social studies textbook. He would read like tons of pages like almost finishing like 10 chapters in one sitting and he loved learning. Hopefully you can mention what I described above about the intellect/attention span thing and mention mental health disorders in your next video only if you can:) I would appreciate it. Lastly, AGI will hopefully come soon and correct all these issues my cousin has and correct all the issues hundreds of people like him have. What do you think? So sorry for my long comment and continue making amazing videos for humanity:) I posted this elsewhere but not sure if it went through my comment👍 Would appreciate your feedback and amazing videos OP:)

Obviously OpenAI is going to have a ‘liberal’ bias given its dominance in academia. It’s also not some kind of master design that universities have a liberal bias - it is a precise consequence of the ontological perspectives of these two schools of thought. You don’t innovate often without breaking from tradition and status quo. No need to try to avoid these biases, they’re simply natural and foreseeable.

"Hype" is what humans are capable of expecting/projecting/desiring of a technology, and the Hype Cycle is based on the idea that humans overhype until the technology fails to reach or continue along the trajectory of that human hype. When AI starts evolving AI - again, fairly soon - human "hype" will fall far short of the reality that AI then progresses exponentially.

Basically what I’m saying is, what it can actually do now it will be better but still have the same type of theoretical coding and sampling limitations it has now. Don’t mindlessly believe the person selling you the product lol. Consult actual experts 😂. The real political bias is a meta bias entrenched in capitalism, upheld by both liberals and conservatives. Mira Morati’s claim of reducing biases ignores this core issue. Neutrality is a myth; it’s tied to economic power and class struggles. True neutrality would challenge the capitalist system, which they avoid. Their ‘neutrality’ merely preserves the status quo, perpetuating systemic exploitation, inequality, and alienation. This isn’t neutrality; it’s technofeudalism, consolidating power in the hands of a few under the guise of fairness.
