Watch the movie Transcendence with Johnny Depp. The answer is - we have a problem. Our very real technology is there. Only exception may be - directed energy weapons are largly responsible for many of the things nanobots are blamed for in the movies. Though nano tech is on its way to that level shown in the movie. And then there's that controlled by the AI factor - Sure we get to live as autonomous beings but we will be used as a hive collective military if needed by the powers that be. And if anyone's listening - these movies over and over are telling us - its not what we think.

You might be imagining that differences between human intelligence levels are very great. Indeed it seems that way to us. But the difference between a genius & an AGSI will be like (as the analogy always goes), an ant & a human.
