For those wondering - the cuts and edits are all dead space, breathing, ums, etc. This is meant to speed up the flow of information from the conversation to save time. Let us know if this is too jarring so we can adjust for the next one!

Benjamin Netanyahu is really an outstanding person. not just as a leader but as a person who clearly understands that AI (from numerous aspects) he clearly understands how AI is impacting humanity Now and how risky it could become in the near future, he also understands we don't have much time to be ahead of this race. understanding the benefits to humanity but also pose endless risks. Part of this discussion reminds me of that movie where the robots started becoming sentient and in order not to be found out, did not let the humans know. Some humans figured it out and eventually found out that the original AI program for the robots was created by an super AI, which was then shut down. What the human creators did not account for is the super AI put a Trojan horse in the code so at a point in the future the robots became sentient while not letting the humans know. We who think we are so smart now, will be no match for a super AGI, with access to all information, with 10k+ genius level brains (example) and quickly develops it's own language which we will not understand. Let the good times roll!

If history repeats itself, then AI robot armies would inevitably become a reality, just like new leaf weapons (it’s dramatised really well in the movie Oppenheimer). The next question is what happens when countries have massive power with no risk to human lives, will it lead to world peace, or will it lead to situations like the war in Ukraine where the world is too afraid to intervene because of the nuclear force Russia has. The answer is B. Until humanity catches up on the moral front, any technology will be used to protect both good and evil. I think that expert psychologists should be added to this discussion to answer the question of human happiness and psychological well being. It’s not enough to have scientists and politicians. The psychological ramifications of not being useful anymore need to be studied. What seems like heaven might actually be hell. Our need for human connection needs to be considered as well as our need to be useful to others.

I dislike his inputs becuse he is a salesman. Brockman and friends always have to constantly bring up the "upside", like as if there is something wrong with the world today and we have to invent AGI in order to save ourselves from our horrid existence and they're here to provide the antidote. It's a story they've made up for themselves which they constantly project onto everyone else so they can feel good about what they know is probably not the right thing to be doing. In my opinion the world was pretty perfect and has been for a long time, I don't need him to tell me he's hear to fix all the problems we don't necessarily have. Of course curing disease is a wonderful thing, but do we need his vision of improving the future forced down our throats? No, we'll get there with or without him. For example, he says "imagine having the best teachers ever?!?!?!", what's the point of that if humans have been made obsolete in every conceivable way? I really feel for kids in high school today who have dreams, they must be feeling quite lost.

Regulating AI is not possible because we all downloaded gpt4all-unrestricted and now we can train it, do what we want and you couldn't intervene unless you deleted the file automatically. If you asked microsoft to delete the file then it would be a torrent on the dark web and people would use open source operating systems to work with the model. You could theoretically enforce deletion of this file overtime with global collaboration but I've already propagated the file onto ten usb sticks and hidden them. So ye mate, no regulation because I said so.

One thing that keeps me awake at night is the speed of thought. Humans being really slow. Imagine the time needed to share a 1000 page math book with someone else and understand it. The AI comes along and exchanges and understands perfectly the information in that book in one thousandth of a second. that is what we will be up against if regulation is not in place. Also, the military of any given country will be building AI robots and systems designed to kill. Humans must see this Now and put safety measures in place.

It's great to see a politician involved in this kind of talk. Our governments must act in advance of the inevitable disruptions caused by intelligent synthetic artifacts. I saw Yann LeCun talk to a Congressional committee, and it was very different. I got the impression that the politicians there were clueless and posturing. They didn't really seem to be listening. Experts and politicians took turns reading prepared speeches. In the end, I thought the politicians didn't take the coming changes as seriously as they should.

I responded to the edit post, but I'd like to say in my own thread to echo this--we can not as a society start trimming out breaths, umms, and thought-bridges. This is what makes us human. This is how you can watch a person be a person--how they get from thought to thought. How they feel. How they respond in all it's glory is what helps us understand each other. Cutting out all this beautiful stuff is a perfect example of what direction we should not take. It's ironic, this discussion to this video edit. We are all feeding on KZbin shorts and bite-sized content. We are all loosing touch, and the zeitgeist of needing to min/max a YT video so people won't feel like they are wasting time is so icky. Wrong direction to take. We are turning into robots in that sense. I'd much rather watch the original, can we get that link please? I can't find it.

The Prime Minister raised some critically important questions that I felt got side-stepped a bit, and not clearly answered. (…Almost like, “Well, we don’t really want to go there, so let’s talk about this more positive aspect…”)

Why we not make panels like this more often and in bigger representation. We have business man/thinker, politician/representation of God, academic profesor and AI creator. If we could add more people like one army general, 3 filozofers, one or 2 medical doctors, one or 3 homless mans, ordinary working family couples x3, show business, artists, let's give voice to the voice less, and all representation of humans. Because this AI topic has impact on all humans regardless of status, inspiration can come sometimes where least expected. .... . Let's people inspire one another in love and respect.

Absolutely! There needs to be a lot of action to educate people about computer science and AI if we are to move forward. But from a security and protection of humankind perspective - there are certain things we need to maintain to ourselves (like handwriting) so we have agency and our world isn't enveloped by AI and technology.

Ray Kurzweil is an American inventor, futurist, and author known for his work in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), transhumanism, and technological singularity. He was born on February 12, 1948, in Queens, New York. Kurzweil has made significant contributions to various technological fields throughout his career. In the 1970s, he developed the first commercially successful optical character recognition (OCR) software program, which allowed computers to read printed text. This technology revolutionized the way documents were scanned and digitized. He later expanded his work to include speech recognition technology and developed the first commercially available large-vocabulary speech recognition system. Kurzweil's innovations in these areas have had a profound impact on the development of modern text-to-speech and speech recognition technologies. Kurzweil is also known for his futurist predictions and his concept of the technological singularity. He believes that rapid advancements in technology, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence and biotechnology, will lead to a point in the future where human intelligence and machine intelligence will merge, resulting in a significant and rapid transformation of society. He has written several books, including "The Age of Intelligent Machines," "The Singularity Is Near," and "How to Create a Mind," where he explores these ideas and their potential implications for the future. Kurzweil has received numerous awards and honors for his work, and he currently serves as a Director of Engineering at Google, focusing on machine learning and language processing.

In my opinion it’s good to shorten / cut out non essential subjects, laughter, coughs etc… but cutting out pauses in speech or the um’s or whatever is making the talk un-natural. With Elon, we all know how he talks. It’s ok to have natural talk with pauses for all parties talking. Too much mini “clipping” of what people says makes it not natural. If people want to listen to it quicker, change playback speed to 1.25 or more depending on your preference.
