@@JackC-e6i Please look for the Taiwan Relations Act and at least imagine what would happen to Taiwan if the US did not exist in this equation. It means that Taiwan developed so well because of chip contracts with US companies, mostly from them. If not for US protection, the CCP would have consumed Taiwan many years ago. So Taiwan is not an independent country it heavily depends on the US.

Taiwan is a self-ruled, independent democratically governed State, wholly different and freer than the CCP-ruled police state of China.

I was very surprised to hear at one time in Taiwan news that their presidents had to seek the US approval for their cabinet picks. This is not democratic. Unlike more independent countries like Germany, where the US has zero business in the country internal affairs such as who is going at which position. I am personally shocked at the US's heavy meddling in Taiwan politics. This is kind of like Ursula Von Der Leyen and Romania, she just meddled with another country's politics if it doesn't align with their political values which is undemocratic. Additionally, populism runs pretty high in Taiwan.
@BossMugwump
@BossMugwump 2 күн бұрын
@ You have a good point but at the same time China pretends like Taiwan is just another province for the CCP, so quite possibly Taiwan may need other democracies to “meddle” in order to ensure its self-preservation(?)

@@Mackcolak-xf5bk Even if that were the case it wouldn’t negate Taiwan’s self-ruled status and independence from the CCP one-party state; Taiwan elects its own leaders and has its own national identity.
@Mackcolak-xf5bk
@Mackcolak-xf5bk 2 күн бұрын
@@BossMugwump yes, but without protection from the US it will already be taken by CCP unfortunately. So it can stay almost completely independent politically from China as long as it keeps dependency on the US. Also there is a strong pro-china party in Taiwan that can mess things up too.

AI has literally nothing to do with cutting edge production of microchips. Everything flows through ASML which develop the $400 million lithography machines. That company is running up against the boundaries of EUV. The next obvious improvement is X-rays, but EUV is already pushing the boundaries of the number of silicon atoms needed to insulate transistors.

@@dannydukes30 Perhaps AI could contribute, but I cannot think of a specific use case. ASML's 2nm lithography machines are perhaps the most complex devices we humans have ever constructed. There are 6,000 companies that contribute to the construction of those chips. It is an incredibly fragile ecosystem and TSMC's most impressive achievement is to manage the supply chain.

Sir, Your English is not that great either. You should say: How is it that TSMC doesn't have a spokesperson who can speak English? Capitalization: "TSMC" should be capitalized since it's an acronym for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. This is a different use in their logo - small case tsmc. Verb Tense: It's more natural to use "is it" instead of "does" in this context. How does is more of a Chinese English.
