Oh gosh, I stayed at the book hotel (it has manga themed rooms on the top floor!) shown at 1:23 during my trip to Japan last year. I definitely passed by this shop multiple times but of course didn't know it existed, 😭 but thankfully I know about it now and I can try to visit on another trip!! 💪Thanks for showcasing it to us! The laminated covers looked really fun to go through, and I giggled at the end with you figuring out that magazine was BL (my BL senses were already tingling so I figured it was lol). And right??! The bookshelf walls of the Jimbocho Station are so so cool!!! I took so many pictures of them and loved going through the station and looking at them. ☺

How's the stay at the Book Hotel? How's the bed and the atmosphere?
@tragicskytragedy6 ай бұрын
@@Germania9 It was nice! We stayed in the black manga room (there's also a white one), which made the room seem very cool and calming. I stayed with two other people but it was still large enough that it just felt cozy rather than cramped. The bookshelf layout is very stylish, which has the unfortunate drawback of being somewhat awkward to deal with- for example, there's two large beds, one of which is a top bunk, but the "stairs" to climb up there also double as more bookshelf space and are also styled differently than regular stairs (they're jagged) for design purposes. So it looks cool, but might not be the most practical or even safe in some cases. The beds themselves were comfy! Probably the best bed I slept on the whole trip (I stayed at 2 other hotels). The bathroom was also really nice except one nitpick of the sink's faucet being motion-sense activated with a quite loud sound to accompany whenever it came on lol. (There's also a sauna connected to the bathroom but we didn't have time to try it out.) Overall, I enjoyed it a lot!

This was a treat to watch. I remember seeing a lot of these titles back in the early 90's to the mid 2000's when I would visit our Japanese import store in town. It was called Mitsuwa. It had the grocery store, bookstore, video store, toy store, and food court all in the same place. I would spend hours in this place once a week. This was the place where I discovered a love for all kinds of fandom I enjoy, even today. Your video was a trip down memory lane for me. Thank you so much for this.

I want to find the 60s manga magazine 冒険王 specifically the manga that was serialized in it known as 0088/ワイルド・ウエスト. There is little to any information on it online but I found out it exists on the Mandarake auction site. What I'm looking for is the manga adaptation of one of my favorite American TV shows from the 60s, The Wild Wild West. I've never read it and I would like to. You can't find scans of it anywhere.

Welcome back! we haven't since you since last year! I'm just joking. Nice video If you want more vintage series I would recommend Maison Ikkoku by Rumiko Takahasi. I was watching the Anime before I took a break from it. I think you will like it it's a seinen the characters are young adults. there's comedy, romance, drama. the characters actually age and grow as the series goes on. Poe No Ichizoku (1972) according to MAL it's a historical BL shoujo. 5 vols 15 chapters. In the U.S. we have it in Two big books by Fantagraphics books 7:45 'why do I look like that' what do you mean? you look normal.
