I really understand the feeling you describe of being able to come back to an art store as an adult and treat your past self to all the art supplies they couldn't afford. For me it was micron pens and cute stationary 😊 It was also very difficult to find products from Japan (or Asian in general) when I was growing up. Really love this series and exploring the different vibes each art store has!
@pawshire11 ай бұрын
Each store was indeed so different! Thank you 😊
@drmidnight680-kz2le10 ай бұрын
There are a lot of supplies there already been used by many artist, you will never make money doing things that already been done better than you can , by many before. You have to come up with something that's new and different. Anyways, you can easily make a better micron pen by cutting the nib of any marker from dollar store with sharp exacto blade.. You did not want to become an artist just to have the art supply store define your art, that would be terrible 😔
@artemisaix10 ай бұрын
I can relate with you so much, now than im adult and im able to afford art supplies i have watercollors on all the shapes and colors, liquid, brushes, pencils, pastels, pans, tubes, etc, i also have color pencils, acrylics, true markers for comic , marker papper, watercolor papper, its a unique feeling to be able to have the art supplies you always wanted when growing up not being able to afford it.

For an artist to walk to the art supply store is the walk of shame😔

The wall of pigments! I feel like a kid all over again. I have never seen anything like this before and yes "otherworldly" as you so eloquently commented. When I was a child, my parents during the holidays would get me art supplies as gifts. I remember being so excited about using various methods and it stuck with me my entire life. I go through so many tubes of paint and probably average around 360 paintings produced a year from small paintings to large paintings. My studio can get very messy at times when I get on a groove of getting five to six paintings done in a few days, I have no time to stop when I'm in that groove and then it settles down. I work in waves like tides of water. I don't know why that is?. I spent my entire commercial art career under deadlines to get work done and so that work ethic with me is the likely reason it carried over and into the fine art world as a painter. It's interesting how artists shift around. I'm sixty-four years old now and still have not lost any of the wonderment of creating art. It may be that I'm getting older and want no stone unturned. I still adore the creative discovery. I have dealt with a lot of sorrow of seeing family and friends pass away in the last several years and had a health scare of my own during covid. I feel there's a purpose of getting my work into people's homes and hearts. I like your work and it's heartfelt.
