Great point for the images. It should be used as an idea booster for designers not as a solutions to all the problems.

And not even a common idea booster as most of those AI ideas are also pretty repetitive. It will get there, just not anytime soon.

New york times just digging for gold. If an average person did this, they won't bat an eye. We spend days upon days consuming "inspiration" online and unconsciously mix it in our works. As long as it's a mix it's fine. Copying a STYLE of music or art is permitted as you do not get to own styles🤦 If this is our best case against AI we're cooked.

@@MalewiczHype you are long in IT space, I think you feel it is sth totally different from what we did last 20 years. Look at image generation as an example. From impossible 2 years ago to shit 1 year ago to shocking quality today. Technology goes on exponential scale, give it several doubling cycles and you are so close to 100% quality that it is indistinguishable for 99% of users. And these cycles are ticking every few month now. So we may have some time still, maybe 2 years 😅

I've tried AI myself and also looked at what has been produced, and really there is nothing original. Most of the image resources they have scraped are of the same ilk, so if you try something different, it doesn't cope. For example, body types. Women especially, they are all the same face type, breast size and body shape. Even when ethnicity is changed. Also, although I agree with some of your points about DignifAI, at the same time, can we please just leave others alone? Revenge AI where women are stripped and then DignifAI where women are covered are two sides of the same coin - misogyny (male AND female misogynists) trying to control women's bodies. If the people in the photos want to change their own photos, good on them. Otherwise, everyone else should leave them alone. In fact, I would like to use AI to scrape my own photos of flora, fauna and landscapes, because then I would know the contributor. However, for all they go on about us being used to add to AI, I have no idea how to do it knowingly and have some control over it.
@MalewiczHype9 ай бұрын
I noticed AI is averaging standards too. As for dignifAI I don't mean being an internet policeman and going to people to "difnifAI" them. What I meant is that many of those bots or "models" actually spam their pics in comments (esp. on Twitter) so it could be cool to simply get rid of it that way. They can do whatever they want on their own profiles, albeit it is very bad for humanity overall - but yeah.

@@MalewiczHype When I started using Google so many moons ago, I noticed that I was getting a huge amount of Porn ads. I didn't understand why, so I hunted down my profile (much more difficult then), and found out that Google analytics had decided that I (35F at the time), was a white male in his 40s! So it was sending me lots of naked bods. I went in and changed my gender and age, and voila, they disappeared. I have always felt sorry for men in that regard since. I had found it horrible.

If you are not using ai you may be an out of touch designer. AI is a tool, like the tablet and pen that has more utility than pencil and paper in the real world. If you are asking the ai to do the design well, you are not even a designer at that point. More like a manager or something and typically produce bland designs.

This video won't age well. As of right now, sure, AI isn't close to replacing experienced UX or UI designers, but seeing how insanely quick it got better, I'm afraid that in about 5 years, it might be finally capable of spewing out legit design concepts, that will work good enough comparatively to hiring expensive human designers, that take weeks or months on a single project. All this downplaying of the danger, that AI might cause to our profession is just massive copium by established design influencers to keep their audience. The sooner we realize that, the sooner we can start looking for some career alternatives, and not find ourselves with no job prospects. I've been working as a designer for the last 6 years, and I'm afraid I might have about the same amount of time left, before AI will simply become actually competitive even for experienced designers.

I don't think so. In the design field there are many more things that the ai cant understand. If there's an add timer button at the top, for example, and you tell the ai to make a timer button on the side, the ai will make it without understanding that two timers are not necessary.

The assertion that "some boring processes might be automated, that's it" seems short-sighted. I think you're underestimating just how much of the market for design (particularly in the corporate / enterprise space) is creating interfaces for those same "boring processes".

I don't mean those kind of processes, I mean processes of actual design - some methods. And currently corporate is going all crazy with optimising everything but I feel like it will come back to bite them in the back pretty soon - quality is dropping. I'm seeing whole experiences breaking from the likes of UPS, Amazon and others.
