Such beautiful dogs. I had a kind Doberman/Rottweiller mix when I was a kid named Zeus. Great dog. I must admit I have an Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky now and I prefer them, but the Doberman always holds a place in my heart.

I think they are more sensitive than humans because they are covered with fur. I noticed that dogs whose ears stand up naturally such as German Shepherds have a lot of hair covering the opening on the ear canal to protect it. We've had Dobes in the family since '59 - love 'em!! Some had their ears up before we bought them already but we would never have it done now.

It's amazing how a dog that is as formiddable as the Doberman can be such a kind, gentle and a freakin cuddle buddy! Dobermans are definately in the upper eschalon of the dog world and can protect you from ANY other dogs or people. I love the fact that Dobermans are as wonderful as they are and even thugs that walk up with their bully style PitBulls have a tendency to be a little nervous.
@DobermansRock17 жыл бұрын
I love em. They have great personality, spirit, and energy. If I could I would love to own a pack. You are lucky Joy no doubt. Thanks for the video... And like mine thier barks are rockin. If I couldnt see em on the other side of a fence. Trust me I would not jump over.

That is exactly what came to my mind when I saw those dogs. Must cost a heck a lot of money to feed'em. But that's the least we could do for our dogs loving us so much in return - feed them well. :)

AYE poursuivant! Cropping ears also helps with infection. Also Dobermans are known to have brittle tails, when a dog breaks it tail (Very sad to see) it hurts the dog like holy hell. By docking the tail you can bypass this completely. The pups are under local anastetic when they are docked and cropped so they hardly feel a thing. I worked with a vet for a few summers and we saw a dobie with a broken tail, poor dog could hardly stand he was hurting so much.

I love your dogs, they're so beautiful. And their bark! Doby barks are the best. Just to add my opinion, I like the look of cropped ears. They make the Doby look so much... more, I think. Don't get me wrong, if you wanna go all 'It's wrong' and not crop, it's cool. I just like them that way. I've never seen a Blue one before, though, and may I say, he/she is amazing!

I have two miniatures Schnauzers. They had their tails cut when they were born. I did not have theirs ears cropped because I think it is a kind of cruelty. I have seen pictures of cropped ears on Dobermans and the vet made a very real mess with it. After it is cut...no turning back ! I agree with you philipsqazxsw !!

@borninthe90sdecade No, ears that stick up are surgically pinned. Naturally Dobermans have floppy (and pretty cute) ears. I don't think it makes them more violent but it's surgery that is not necessary.

i don't know why ppl have such a problem with cropping ears, if u don't want to do it don't, but the breed was created to have its ears cropped. We created different breeds to have certain looks and temperaments, the crop goes with the Doberman look (not to mention if they're working, the ears don't flop all over)

My male is underwieght. His dad was 120(which I think is overwieght) But my boy is only 76 lbs, and I can see his ribs a touch. So another 10 to fifteen would be great. He is pretty tall. A good 28 inches. I started mine up on the Nutro after reading your site. I do like thier canned food far more than the rest. It is actually food, to the eye. I will be taking him in soon to see if there may be another reason for him to be underwieght. I love this breed. They are it. If you can handle them.

Doberman is spelled as dobermann in all German speaking countries and most others. The breed was obviously named after Mr. Dobermann and the only reason English speaking countries drop the last "n" is to shorten the world because the last letter is not vitally important to the pronunciation.

Wow what beautiful Dobes!! I wish I had a yard that big! And that grass! I've never seen so much that wasnt at a park. thats the problem with living in a desert area. I feed mine Call of the Wild, the Salmon mix. (Grey Hound races here use the same) It's sad when I see people feed their dogs cheap dog food, if they would just try buying better food, they would see how healthier their dogs would be ...along with SAVING money and less waste in the yard! You should be Proud of them and yourself!

@W33Dblazer That is how the breed was designed and that's how it is meant to look and it looks good. It's not a Weimaraner. The pain is temporary and given the things my wife does for beauty being docked and cropped in not a big deal. No one would forces you to dock/crop yours. Incidentally the docked and cropped Dobe's are far less likely to end up in a shelter or abandoned. It seems like the ones willing to pay extra for the look are loving owners.

Doberman is Actually spelled with 2 N's. The Creator was Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann. A German Tax Collector that wanted a dog that was versatile and strong enough to protect him....Just a Fact.

@catukiki Id just like to point out, SOME (poorly breed) Dobies do have very weak tails. My baby of 4 years had to have her tail amputated later in life when it did break. My vet told us that most long tailed working breeds from shelters (or ranch dogs) should have dock tails just to avoid injury. Id hate to have someone else get their dogs tail broken. My girl was bed-ridden for weeks.

i know cropping the ears is cruel and it's correct to be banned, but still it makes all the difference in the appearance of the dog. my boss used to have one with natural ears and when he fist told me it's a dobermann i didn't believe it. i thought it's some sort of hunting dog, especially because it was reddish-brown colored. but when he held his ears up it was definitely clear what breed it was.

that is verry true! and my dog has everything, which was there in the first place... but i think thats a different topic and i do think there is a tiny difference between removing a dogs testicals and cropping ears, to make it look more "intimidating"... although it's true, we shouldn't be the one deciding over an animals well-being. unfortunately we do...

@peterf16 a doberman without cropped ears has more moisture under the ears= bacteria, so basically ur helping ur dog in the long run, and docked tails keeps the dog from harming itself when wagging its tail against objects..... theres a reason behind everything its not just fashion

I'm a long time Doberman owner and lover (50+years), and if you were my neighbor I'd ask for permission to play ball, and hug on every one of you fine Doberman friends. People who don't like Dobermans are (in my opinion) simply not as smart at as the Dog it's self.

Iknow they didn't look it in the video. Looks like you've got them well trained. Plus they have a big open space to run in. I knew some people with a doberman once and they kept it chained or pinned in a very small area and that dog got to where it was mean. Its better if you keep them the way you have them.

@Eira943 "However, we crop them because we like the look. Nothing more, nothing less." Exactly...we like the look of the cropped ears. To each his own. For instance, we in the U.S. are partial to dentists and oral hygiene, something that continues to escape the know-it-alls in the U.K. : )

@Veternik94 Thanks for the lovely insult. Why would NOT docking tails and NOT pinning ears cause ear infections? I've been keeping Dobermans for 30 years and never had such a problem. Pinning ears does not prevent infection. It's widely known here and so there is no medical reason for it and therefor not allowed.

@JoysDobies I'm sure you have it already, but JUST in case - for osteochondrosis - glucosamine dose in the morning is so helpful (depending on what other med.s being taken naturally). Also eases the arthritis usually associated with the cartilage issues. My Jojo had days where she was limping terribly, was heartbreaking, but has never looked back since I started her on glucosamine. Good luck best wishes, and stop cropping ears - The British Vets and your dogs will thank you. xxx
