@John Jamesmaybe or its becouse people are little boxes (with depth) that always move a little. You must not forget that it is checking if something moves several times within a second, there Occupancy Network works with videos and not with images. Try to hold your hand in front of your face, we usually don't notice it anymore but we always move a little bit, holding still needs a lot of concentration.

Man I absolutely love how to talk about the car. You are the most unbiased person to ever review something. If you don’t like something, you call that right out! It’s awesome to watch because anyone else would just be like “ohh this stupid car doesn’t work right at all!” But you actually give it props when it does something correct and also give remarks when it does something incorrect. Even on minor things where I’m like “ahh it did okay there” you’ll still call it like you see it. Gotta respect that.

Fascinating. A couple of years ago I watched FSD videos for the entertainment of seeing where and how it screwed up - showing how hard the project was. Now I think, from here on forward, I've started to watch to admire its increasingly inscrutable but intelligent handling of said situations. Thanks for flipping my script there, it was about time. And at one time I thought I'd stop watching because as it got good it would get boring! PS your editing is great. (thumbs up emoji)

The car on your left in the parking lot that had a stop sign and went when you thought you had the right-of-way probably did it because they saw how slow you were going andn that your left turn signal was on. They could have been thinking that you intended to let them go and that you wanted to go down the isle they were coming out of.

17:01 In Germany, you are legally supposed to pass buses with hazard lights on only at walking speed (~5-7 mph), because people might pass in front of the bus, but pretty much nobody actually drives that slow. So in a way, not even overly cautious
@loganrossignol2 жыл бұрын
Over the course of an entire year of testing, FSD still does not see several of the speed bumps on my street that are usually "masked" by shadows from trees. Almost always the same ones, but behaves the same in any scenario that is similar: speed humps that have tree shadows cast on them almost never get recognized correctly, in particular during late morning/midday. At night it's fine since it's casting its own light to see objects rather than relying on environmental light to see.

One of your best videos on the channel. I love a longer format there the majority of footage is still sped up and there is a ton of commentary regarding interesting problems. I would really appreciate if you shared your workflow perhaps on your second channel as I will probably try to launch an European FSD channel once we get the opportunity here across the ocean! Do you record VO over already pre-edited footage? Or do you comment over raw footage and then edit everything together? It's just so smooth and seamless and that's coming from someone who has been producing videos for the past 10 years. Just amazing job man.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I’ve been thinking of doing some tutorials either on a second channel or for Patreon supporters. It’s been a long road developing a process, but I basically VO over unedited clips and put markers where I’d like to switch from 3rd person view to first person and then after I’m all finished I do multiple “passes” and add all the color grading and transitions. I will definitely make a tutorial in the future, I’m finally getting organized!

Regarding the right turn into the multi-lane roadway: check your drivers' license manual that the state provides to prepare for the test, right turns must take the eight lane and then signal to move over, same procedure for left turns into the left most lane. We have been cites by a state trooper on this issue.

Gonna be honest, maybe don’t include the extra sounds when fast forwarding, honestly just including the “fast forward” symbol is all that’s needed, it just adds extra noise while your talking, maybe a simple fade in and fade out on loop of the symbol just to make it more obvious

One thing I noticed: The turn signals come on wayyy too early and remain on for wayy too long. This can be confusing for other drivers. 9:00 it activates right turn signal for the intersection. But there's a Gray (nissan?) waiting to pull out from the gas station in front of you. That car could interpret your signal as intention to go inside the gas station and begin pulling out as he'd have the courteous right of way in that situation. 7:17 it kept left turn signal on for way too long even though you were making an immediate right turn. Driver of the green Lexus could've decided to start making a right turn thinking you're intending to go around him.

9:07 i think the reason it changed lanes mid turn is it saw the car turning from its left into the same road and possibly predicted it path to the left or middle lanes, so it like changed to the right lane to avoid that. a human probably wouldn't have noticed the exact intention of the other driver and would have cut them off.

You always talk about the autopilot, it would be great if you addressed the underlying systems separately instead of always putting everything under the term autopilot. For example, the 3 most important systems are currently: 1. occupancy network (captures the environment and provides a 3d vector space) 2. lanes network (it is responsible for the path planning, the actual navigation and the recognition of paths and lanes). 3. collision avoidance network (whenever it beeps or the brake is pressed hard, the network recognizes that a collision is possible, the network is currently only active in the FSD beta, but will be extended to all Teslas in the future, even without ordering autopilot). There is a great KeyNote videos of Teslas Devs to the Collsions Avoideance Network in which they show in a simulation what happens when a Tesla driver presses the gas pedal and lets go of the steering wheel without active Autopilot with the new system. (The you tube video is called CVPR'22 WAD) !!Spoiler!! ; The car bounces like a ping pong ball against the ends of the road but avoids everything and never crashes.
