probably good to point our=t marcus sensei has a wealth of experience not only in Aikido but in BJJ and several other arts.

there's a similar move in classical wrestling, and not as hard as it looks to pull off if you can get your partner face down.

There is a similar or several similar moves in wrestling. Getting the opponent face down is not difficult- what is difficult is controlling them so they don’t “ KEEP” rolling and escape that way Theres only so many ways a body moves so techniques between martial arts must by necessity be similar

Does this technique down from O-Sensei or Tohei? Or is it added in later from daito-ryu which probably has a lot of leg locks?
@marcusencel3528Ай бұрын
Its from Osensei. Its an old technique for binding and executing originally. Osensei did this kind of thing allot in the 1930’s
@marcusencel3528Ай бұрын
Daito ryu does have some similar leg locks but these tend to end in a “ no hands” type finish which I don’t like as the flamboyance takes away from the efficacy

So many techniques have been "dropped" over the years it's a real shame it tends to be the more functional ones

0:54 This reminds me of a similar technique from a Shorei-kan karate kata.

@@AIKIDOSILVERDALEMy replies aren't being posted. It is on the atShoreikankarate channel. Two person kumite rokudan. The kata appears to include shionage in addition to the ankle pick technique.

Just saying people- while I demonstrate leg locks I dont use them much- it’s too much of a positional and time commitment for a streetfight mostly. They ate excellent when receiving mid to high kicks or when being kicked while on the ground. The other position they shine is when you are pinned under an opponent usually in side control

@@marcusencel3528 you're not an expert, and referring to yourself as such is a blatant disregard for actual experts in the field of martial arts; of which i am not one. While I have a extensive study, and time line of dedication to tien shan pai, Sanda/Sanshou, wudang fencing; i'm also a fresh faced baby in freestyle wrestling and BJJ, both of which i thoroughly enjoy. But the reason I call Aikido crap (and i'm right) is it gives its practitioners a false sense of security. Security in a martial arts that is fake. We have Aikido schools here in cinci, and i've challenged each one to a sparring session, and have been honest as to why i challenge them; to prove that aikido is bullshit. All (three) of the schools instructors, and by proxy their students, have given excuse after excuse as to why they won't commit to a test of Aikido's prowess; even when I stipulate that the sparring matches take place at their schools. So yeah, you can say what you want, just know that Aikido, and you, are useless in the ring, in the streets, just in general as a martial art.
