Thank you for commenting. A lot has changed since the Covid-19 bullshit. I’m currently working on a bunch of videos to be uploaded in July 2021 as well as hopefully a whole new series of online class videos. My plan for mid 2021 is to blow up social media with all new content.

I am late to the party with the commenting but I have to say Sensei Lenny, you made me love Aikido again. It’s because of you, the guys you teach and your non bs approach to the reality of attacks and how to apply effective aikido that I am desperate to learn this (uk based) when covid restrictions ease. I have watched these vids multiple times. Please keep doing these and stuff the nay sayers. We need this stuff! Thank you for your passion and guidance.

Lots of great small details. Appreciate your continued sharing of such things. These small things are really where the magic happens, and I think that most people fail to understand that. I tried several different Aikido styles and was always amazed at how much they differed in the details (Yoshinkan vs Tomiki vs Aikikai vs Tenshin, etc.). Yours (Tenshin) is definitely my favorite. BTW, Yoshinkan is formal training for the riot police in Japan.

Thank you very much Sensei for all of the great instruction that you have provided. I’m eternally grateful. I have a shotokan karate and san ryu Jiu-Jitsu background. I would love to one day visit your dojo and learn some aikido from you. It would be an honor and a privilege. I live in California. I do have a cousin that lives in Chicago. Do you think I can train for just one month? Please let me know Sensei.

Very interested in the deflection. My question is when you raise your elbow are you not risking a weak arm position?
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS134 жыл бұрын
No not at all the deflection is based off of movement and energy from the attacker
@mikemcfarthing34994 жыл бұрын
@@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 Thanks actually watched your video on Ukenagaeshi, and understand that the elbows up position is not weak due to the tenkan. As you know most styles teach the elbow up as losing the connection from the hip power. As you're not blocking but circling around its very strong. Very interesting.

Im a godan Aikidoka, beginning of this video, the elbow shall always have connection with the centre. You lose protection doing the technique this way, your elbow is your shield.
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS135 жыл бұрын
Negative. This hand deflection is based off a kenjutsu sword movement not an aikido bokken movement. So your comment is incorrect. If you haven’t trained in this style of aikido which is TenShin then you wouldn’t have the slightest clue how this actually works.
@misterprogressive87305 жыл бұрын
No, your entire body should connect to your center thus your entire body would become your shield, sword, cannon ball and love machine. If you think that your elbow becomes the most important part of the body in aikido, then you were probably a 5th dan in elbowdo and not aikido.
@aakh115 жыл бұрын
@@misterprogressive8730 So you don't see the opening, he have created when the elbow is to high up, and what grade do you have then?
@misterprogressive87305 жыл бұрын
@@aakh11 there is always an opening when you are doing a technique, you see this in especially obvious in shomenuchi ikkyo where you expose your entire torso when you raise both of your arm to catch the partners elbow. But then you move you uke quickly to the mat before he or she could take advantage of the opening. In ukenagaeshi you also open up your lower body when you raise your arms above but then you either turn you hips and do a shomengiri or keshagiri, or you move back and return to seigankamae (in preparation for a tsuki). What kind of 5th dan are you, when you dont even realize this?
@aakh115 жыл бұрын
@@misterprogressive8730 Using metaphor is common in marshal art, even sensei Lenny Sly is using the same metaphor in this video. Still what grade of aikido do you have Wolfram Schattenjäger? Sensei Lenny Sly wants that anybody who leaves a comment on his video's name their marshal art and grade. Maybe a suck at aikido but still i'm a godan, and I have done other marshal art's.

I like what you guy doing , but is started to look at traditional techniques as more of weapons art , Kali or Escrima instead of using your hand. Instead started use a baseball bat or a stick the techniques started to make sense .

@@tellitlikeitis5045 So have I. Mostly with violent kids in group homes . In a cage vs. a trained professional probably not. There is no trapping range....they strike...then grab you ...no time for wrist controls etc.

Bilbo Baggins there is plenty of time. You have to make the initiative to go for the grab. In my style of Jiu-Jitsu we look for an opening and take it. Sensei Sly is doing a fantastic job and his technique is flawless.
