I just submitted my book to publishers. Today! In my country we don’t use agents, we submit directly to publishers. I now have a headache and look forward to months of rejections and anxiety. Wooo!

does anyone else feel like after project teacup's title is revealed and the book is actually out (if it gets to that stage which i hope it does!) they're still gonna be calling it project teacup in thier head?

I'm a traditional published author and I have the same feeling--when people want to buy my book, I want to give it to them. But I started saying, "Thank you for supporting me! After you read it, would you mind leaving an honest book review? That would really help me as a writer." Boom. Response given, and I teach them the importance of leaving reviews. Also... Indie publishers only make "the big bucks" when they have a robust marketing plan AND have multiple books. Series are great. You make the most money when you publish quickly.

I love your videos so much Christy! Also, the question about university -PERSONALLY, looked at MFA programs in the US syllabuses?syllabi? idk I looked through their reading lists and textbooks etc. And then made my own writing craft learning crash course to help supplement my understanding of storytelling. It's been fun, but since I am allowed to pick and choose, it is not very challenging! A writing retreat would be SUPER. I am going start saving up rn.

It's actually insane how long it takes and when I found that out I was immediately put off from doing it😂 Even though I'm wrapping up the edits on book 1 I feel ill just thinking about waiting so long for potentially nothing to happen.

Omg! I been hoping you’ll do something like this! By the way..there’s good news! I’m half way with my book writing for the first one! Just half way there, just a few more chapters then I’ll be done with book 1. It’s currently has 92124 world count so far, it’s probably fill of typos but hey that’s what editing it for 😂 But honestly thank for this!

I like how you're calling your current work Project Tea Cup. I'm working on a mystery novel where I don't want to give away half the premise or the related title, both of which could be very marketable right now based on some of the titles I keep seeing in bookshops and websites. I might start calling it Project Trophy (after the murder weapon) until I can pitch the title and series to an agent after I've written it.

It's been amazing to follow along on your journey as a writer, and I'm so excited to see the final result of all your hard work. If you want to see wild wombats and platypuses go to Tassie! I have seen wombats every time I’ve been to Cradle Mountain (and even got chased by one once!). And I went to the Latrobe Chocolate Festival and saw a platypus in Kings Creek from the bridge on the main street!

Thank you so much for your diligence in choice of sponsors, Christy, in particular re brands that use AI! As someone who doesn't personally do content creation as a livelihood, I can only imagine the stress and pressure you must feel to get those advertising deals, and it's so admirable that you, unfortunately unlike so many others at the moment, take such a meaningful stance against the alarmingly unethical uses of AI. A very neat and powerful tool that (as usual), wielded by corporate interests, is doing so much real-world harm to our society in general and artists in particular. Your integrity is very much appreciated! I've loved all your videos for years and very much look forward to Project Teacup's INEVITABLE PUBLICATION!!!! ♥

My favourite animal is the wombat too! It has been ever since I was a kid. I'm aussie and I live in Brisbane. Makes me sad to think you've never seen a wombat in the wild. Take a trip to Tasmania, and you will see wombats. In particular, go to Maria Island. I saw platypuses in tassie too, at Mt Field. I grew up in an area that had a huge koala population (in the Redland shire), so I never went any more than a couple of weeks without seeing a koala. I would smell them in the backyard, look up and surely there would be one (sadly due to urban development, that has changed in my home area). Also heaps of wallabies around us too. I also adore echidnas, their little pigeon-toed walk. I would love to see a quoll in the wild. I'd also love to see a numbat. To answer the 3 things that make me happy besides writing/reading question, for me it's: nature (number 1 always); loved ones; travel/adventure experiences.

Do partial drafts of a project count as a draft? I got 26,000 words into what I projected to be a 55,000 to 62,000 word draft before I realized that my plans for the back half of it weren't working at all and I needed to do a complete re-think/more historical research. For myself, I'm comfortable with the notion that there aren't any hard rules to creating and just moving on to the next draft, but I was wondering if I should count this partial draft as draft 1 whenever I get to the querying stage, etc, or if it's more proper to reserve draft 1 status for the first complete draft when presenting it to others? Or do agents, etc., even care how many drafts you've been through?

A question for your next chat video, since I don't have access to other platforms currently.... Let's say worst case scenario, you don't get any takers on Teacup... will you self-publish at some point? Or just leave us all wondering about it forever, lol...? I'm confident that you'll get a book deal, since you had multiple agents interested... and I've read some truly awful books that managed to get published... surely yours is better, lol... but I always like to have 7 backup plans. 🙃

You may know onomatopoeia in Japanese. Onomatopoeia is a kind of expression of state of nature or feeling in Japanese. This expression needs to listen to sound carefully and allocate an alphabet to each sound. How about expressing onomatopoeia in English in your book while staying in Japan.

Wow Christie @13 minutes I had no idea academics in writing were quite snobby. I would not have liked that. I didn't go to uni, so I'm kind of relieved about that. People can be so demoralizing...especially in positions of authority. I wrote urban fantasy last time/s...writing sci fithis tjme. I don't give a crap what uni lecturers thinks about it and I'm grateful I'm not exposed to that and gaving to supress my anger at them about it, because that's not healthy. I'm almost halfway through this rough draft. Began in november. But I had 2 months off in may and juneas lost my glasses. Recycling bin ate them. Anyway I hope you give Speigltent see as much woŕldbuilding as current book. Interested to know if that process will be faster for you with each WIP.
