Great video. Ailsa Craig is a place I have long been fascinated by and would love to visit one day (I live in Australia) . Also liked that you went across by kayak. I did competitive kayaking many moons ago so the paddle across held great appeal

@@andrewrose9707 Hi Andrew and thanks for your comments. Yes, Ailsa Craig is a great trip (around 9 miles by each way by kayak) and a wonderful place to explore, with breathtaking scenery/views and wildlife. It's well worth a kayak trip and camping gives the opportunity to see more of its hidden treasures. Which part of Australia do you live? My son has been in Aussie around 20 years now having married Rochelle (an Aussie) and we now have 3 wonderful grandsons. They used to live on the Central Coast in Killarney Vale near Tuggerah Lakes but now live further north at Port Macquarie, a lovely spot. Having been over to see them many times I had tge opportunity to paddle some areas on the Central Coast with members of CCCC based around Wyong also with members of Hunter Kayak Klan, some magnificent kayaking with them. Please feel free to browse and enjoy my content, share with friends and subscribe as there's new content being added regularly, I have a ton of footage from some amazing trips this year so far!! Thanks Again and Best Regards Geoff 😊 👍

Thanks for the drone shots and recording the walk across the bridge and up the tower. Nice shots of the cliffs and the gannets flying about, nice to see the clouds hang above the water, nice trip!

Thanks Steven, yes it's a great trip and always good to explore the many remains from bygone days. It was a shame the mist was hanging around the top, I'd hoped to get some drone shots above the gannet colony but it probably better as I may have been 'taken out' by an inquisitive gannet! 😂😂

Brilliant camo that was! Some amount of drift wood for a fire too. What app do you guys use for weather? I would like to take my little sib boat across but have so far only been out on lochs. Cheers 😊✌️

Thanks for your great comments John. Yeah, its always a great trip, we've had some wild conditions on several return journeys, as everywhere in Scotland weather and sea conditions can change very rapidly. I don't rely on any one particular weather forecasting service or App !! I tend to watch Met Office "Deep Dive" and "10 Day Trend" video's on KZbin plus Atlantic Charts as they give a clearer picture of weather fronts etc as they approach the UK...very good sources of info with explanations of weather systems and their potential effects. Also use Apps...XC Weather, Windy. Sorry John it this sounds a little blunt... but!!! The trip to Ailsa Craig is around 9 miles and usually takes around 2.5 - 3hrs at an average pace in a modern sea kayak fully laided with camping gear. If your contemplating this trip, it shouldn't be attempted alone and ensuring all concerned are well versed in open water crossings, being very confident in paddling your craft, with all the necessary safety equipment and prepared to stay overnight if conditions change. If you fall short in any of the above you've no business in attempting it!! Thanks again and feel free to browse, comment and Subscribe for more video's. Best Regards Geoff

@@geoffburke thanks a lot for the detailed reply. I'm not going to jump into the sib and head off on my first sea outing and so I'm just trying to gather the information on what I need and what to expect. My 10hp should take me over a little quicker than your journey but I'll have to understand the sea better before I attempt it- your right! Thanks again.
