I grew up wishing Nell was my real mom. I watched her on Gimme a break. Such a loving amazing woman.

no matter what color a person is - there was most definitely talent on that state - to me Nell Carter was one of the best singers and she was never given great recognition for that talent - and I'm white lol

@@peggybachler5952 of course you are. They way you come in to tell Black folks that you don’t care if they are proud of their representation in the arts, because you are use to seeing yourself. So effe us.

Ken Page did a wonderful interview on CBS Sunday morning when AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' first came out...I myself saw t at least six times during the run, that I can remember. Ken said something like, "You know, Andre, Charlaine, Armelia, Nell, and I represent...aspects in a way of Waller's personality. I may LOOK the most like him, but we are all of us - parts of the person he was: lusty, funny, creative, bold, you get the idea!"

That guy looks more like an overweight David Alan Grier than Fats Waller. Also, Fats wasn't effeminate and never sang like that.

You need to watch the original film clip of Fats doing "Joint is Jumpin."
