Love when each one goes solo with their instrument, the others be like "Where did that come from", coz practice time, we didn't see that coming". Absolute command of instruments, exceptional musical arrangement.

I love these Cannonball vids - every one is several hours of happy transcribing for me. GA is a legend of course but Randal's solo on this is absolute fire. When Gerald Albright is getting stank-face when you are soloing you know you're doing it right!

Man. Albright is a legend. But I preferred Clark’s alto sound on this track.
@luisblas232411 ай бұрын
I think it's due to his mouthpiece

Wow dude! Knit pickin Gerald is against the law of funky playin!! Both Alto’s sound nice….but No one can PLAY that Gerald style. He is the innovator of his approach which many try to imitate but can’t duplicate.

@@tonyparis6765 Just sharing my preference on this one track. Gerald Albright’s “Live at Birdland West” (Specifically “Georgia in my Mind”) is one of the reasons I decided to seriously study the saxophone. Albright is undoubtedly one of the most unique, influential saxophone voices of the last 40 years.

Love Gerald Albright, he’s one of my inspirations for starting the sax in the 90s. However, never really dug his sound since the move to synthetic reeds 😢

The melody sax is great …. But I was hoping it would sound more like the original vocal line. Not easy phrasing. I am guessing.
