In my area we are never allowed to install a transformer inside of a safety switch. If transformer is larger then think 40 VA you must install overload protection. On important systems we always installed 3 ball valves. If solenoid went bad you could close off the two valves on solenoid, open bypass valve and replace the bad solenoid while running equionent.
