Nicely done I truly wish more people contractors would invest them self with integrity and give the people what they really should have. A job well done with professionalism. But always keep in mind you get what you pay for! And this homeowner got that and then some. Dave

It looks like my access door has a dark gray sealant all around it and over the bolts. Will I need to reseal it afterwards?
@ACPro2 жыл бұрын
They put mastic on it .. I would never put sealant but tape is ok to make sure no leaks . it comes off easy enough

I have a rheem 2011 unit in attic and the secondary pan full of water and very rusty. Just noticed today, moved in last year. What steps would you take to fix whatever going on? TIA!

Clean drain line real good inspect it make sure it has good slope on it and is supported every fee feet. Then add saftey trap and keep maintenance on system

Hey young man; My unit is in the basement standing up. It is a walk out basement so the pretty constant temp is 65-70. Air comes in from base thru filter then my A frame - wide side dow/ narrow up. Blower is directly above. The enclousure of the Fan has a good size area of rust which is from condensation being sucked up. Any helpful thoughts? Best; Tom

Make sure drain is clear and flowing . If system is old then pan may need cleaned. Or possibly rusted out

so how do you clean the lower part of the coil when you don't have that electronic air cleaner in the front??
@ACPro3 күн бұрын
Several ways to do it. If it is really dirty and line set allows you can pull coil put 6 or more inches. Or if it is standard maintenance and coil is clean just go threw the filter door. Or you can cut hole in plentuim and just install a maintenance door.

Will this get rid of the musty smell coming from my vents?
@ACPro2 жыл бұрын
Depends on what the smell is coming from . But if the system hasn't been serviced it is a good place to start . Every 6 months.

Is it hard to remove this and clean it outdoors? Is it screwed on? We’ve never cleaned ours , atleast 7 years , we have 2

Sorry, doesn’t air flow from right to left on your video? I have an old Lennox and I thought you clean the inside of the A coil… I’m not a pro so I’m sorry if I got it wrong.

Left to right . Filter then coil

I'm confused and afraid to shoot water into my vertical trane coil. Will it run off into a drain pan or will it run down into my return vent? My coil seems opposite of this airflow too since my pointy end is up and the wide part is down towards the return air. My house smells like musty mold when it runs and i can't get anyone reliable to find the source and fix 2 year old system

Being scared will not fix it. Clean it .

@@ACPro I took it apart tonight and looked very carefully. The pan my A coil sits on is extremely small. There is no room for over spray or else it'll drip into my fiberglass return below. The top looks clean anyways. Problem is there's no way for me to get the underside of the coil
@ACPro4 ай бұрын
@johnnyt5108 yes is standard A coil we clean them everyday. Top will always look clean. Cut a hole in the return plenum or remove the metal a on the coil itself. Why worry if it drips into the return? What damage will it do? Cut the access clean it shop vac it all out and enjoy .

In 2024, anyone know what is the standard price an a/c company should charge for the type of cleaning (without removing) shown in video? Thought this was done each time I had my 6 month preventative check up, but apparently not. Tech yesterday 1/7/24 quoted 995.00 to remove & clean evaporator coil OUTSIDE & 375.00 to clean blower motor & 1250.00 to replace blower fan motor & 7,110.00 for Goodman 14.3 SEER 2 ton since our unit is about 15 yrs old. Very hard to find a trustworthy a/c company these days after my long time company retired.
@ACPro6 ай бұрын
Not trustworthy If you have eac and preventing maintenance your machine should not be that dirty. It should be cleaned every 6 months. Change companies and leave Google review on this one. Blower motor is 100 for universal and 300 if varible speed. But if it operates why would you change it. He just tring to make repairs so he can scare you into replacing. Ask for recommendations and 2nd opinion then leave review

@@ACPro Thank you for your advice. I will keep looking for that self employed A/C tech. Not many left in St. Petersburg, FL /Pinellas County. They all have gone to larger companies that do trio of air, electrical and plumbing. This was my second company so will keep searching for # 3. Appreciate your time & your video was excellent. I know they need to make a profit to stay in business, but I want a fair price.

Why have I had two AC companies tell me that my attic air handler has to have the coils removed for cleaning. One wanted $900 another $1300 to clean
@ACPro Жыл бұрын
It must be really dirty. If it's that bad then it would be very risky for a company to clean and allow all the debris to clog the drain . It is a liability issue. You can try it yourself with heavy foaming coil cleaner but be prepared to burn up a shop vac. Indoor blower moter and get it everywhere.
