@BackyardHobbyBoys I just finished mine so that the window opens up about 12 inches. Now I need to build a screen and the slot for the original screen is on one side. I'll have to figure out how I'll snap in the other. Maybe get a rubber edge and let pressure hold it in. Then, weather strip in the middle of the vent so it kisses the edge of the fixed light.

Very nice idea for the wood frame. It does have to be in one piece and you have a bright idea how to use the window"s tracks.

You should make a tutorial on how to measure and cut the 2x4. Awesome video. Great idea. I just installed one and it looks horrible lol but after I attached some dumbbells I knew it would t fall off lol

Outstanding! Best install that I've seen yet on KZbin. Florida Hurricane secure? Really like the simplicity, that it can be installed with minimal time in emergency type situations for generator powered during power outages for extended amounts of time.

Unfortunately when I made the frame I didn’t have a KZbin account so I never did a video of making it. If it helps I can try to explain quickly. First take a 6inch long piece of 2x4 wood and lay it on the window sill and mark the side of it where the high tracks are for the window then use this as a template/test piece and cut the lines like the grooves you see on my wood in the video, this is so the wood will fit inside the frame. Make the bottom one, then top one, make the sides and when you put them in they will hold up the top board, I have it all friction fit. With the basic frame in window then find the height where you have to put your cross piece by measuring the height of your AC, screw that into place then all that is left is to cut plywood to fill the space above the AC. I don’t think you can, you can always get a floor model AC that sits in the room and has an exhaust vent tube that you mount in the window, that is what I used before for the crank style windows, the only downside to this is you have to empty the unit of condensation water via the reservoir they have built in.
