Air Crete Dome Building Workshop on Big Island, HI, July 2019, Domegaia

There is something very special about people of all backgrounds and stage of life getting together to create art.
I made this video for all of my buddies who were participating in this workshop, so we can remember all the special, magical moments that happen when people get together to create and learn. Besides the dome, connections, relationships and friendships were build. Together with the music I wanted to capture the feel of what it’s was like to participate in the DomeGaia workshop.
Dome Building workshop on the Big Island, HI, in July 2019. Domegaia teaches this 10-day workshop all over the world. The dome house is built with air-crete, which is concrete mixed with soap foam. The air-crete poured into a slab and later cut into blocks. We also built a custom door, a skylight and custom concrete counter tops. As a group of like-minded minded people, we came together to build this dome house. With excellent instructors, loving humor, and the willingness to learn our group grew close, building community. There still was enough "playtime" to explore the beautiful Big island as well. This workshop should be on top of the "to do" list of everyone looking for inspiration, alternative building techniques and building community.

How much time did it take and what were the costs to have them come help you build ??

Did you obtain a building permit from Hawaii county for the Aircrete dome? How was the Hawaii county permit process using Aircrete and what did it involve to obtain the permit for the Aircrete dome

Does the Aircrete set up before you get the form filled? Is there a way to produce it constantly so we can fill forms with one continuous pour?

If you use the same design as Monolithic home design, it would be a lot easier to construct you’re dome.

I've been studying block vs monolithic. They both have their advantages/disadvantages. Aircrete is self leveling, it won't stick to an air form.
