at 8:42 when you tipped one drum worth of mixture in it barely came 1/4 up the sides of the mould, but 'next day' was at the top, does it expand by its self?
@pteepan27085 жыл бұрын
Yes, did they add four more barrels or did it expand?
@MyTinyWagon4 жыл бұрын
We added 4 more barrels.

Is it possible to pour this product into a form to make walls? Would you still need rebar to reinforce the aircrete? Would using a concrete vibrator to eliminate air pockets have a deleterious effect on the foam?
@RedandAprilOff-Grid3 жыл бұрын
As long as it's not too thick, it will settle well into the form. We are going to try to pour our walls. We do plan to use some pretty serious reinforcement. 🙂🏠

How do they cut the slab into blocks?

Wouldn't it be less labour intensive to make molds the size of the bricks?
@MyTinyWagon4 жыл бұрын
We used fishing rope. There were slots for the rope before pouring the aircrete. After it hardened we pulled the rope across.
@MyTinyWagon4 жыл бұрын
@@pteepan2708 You would need a lot of molds. With 20 people in the workshop we went through blocks fairly quickly. Pouring and cutting didn't take that long at all.

@@pteepan2708 cutting the blocks after will counter the effects of shrinkage. She size blocks whether it shrinks or not. I am interested in the fishing rope she mentioned. Not familiar with that.

Great videos. I'm looking at smaller projects (1 bag concrete, not two). What is the target consistency of the aircrete where you know you've injected the right amount of foam into the wet concrete?
@MyTinyWagon4 жыл бұрын
They did a lot of testing in the past and figured out the proper consistency. So if you use only one bag, then use half the amount of foam using the same size barrel.

Would there be a difference of pour wet cement in foam instead of foam in wet cement?
@utubeape5 жыл бұрын
yes, you would have to lift up a much heavier container

It is a lot lighter to pour soap into concrete

90-100g of foam weight per quart of foam. One 94 pound bag of concrete +6 gallon water in a 50 gallon drum then mix in foam to fill the drum.

Do you have a issue with cracking? If so, how are you fixing it?
@MyTinyWagon4 жыл бұрын
I have not seen much cracking. These dome houses can survive earthquakes. The dome house is covered with a mesh that helps prevent cracks as well.
