Would it be possible to mold the bottom to the sides so no glue would be needed? I love these and plan to make some soon. Great job showing steps from start to finish; love your decorating ideas.
@doitwithme78453 жыл бұрын
You could try molding it together when air-dry clay is fresh. Apply some water too to help it all stick together. I am so happy that I inspired you to make your own candle holders and I have no doubt it will look amazing! 😉

Hi, is it safe to have the candle lit for a longer time (example: 30 minutes)? I worry about the clay getting hot and/or burning/catching on fire from the heat?

Hi 👋 thank you for watching and commenting 🙂 I use DAS clay because it's available in all shops where I live, but I've seen people use other brands. Just see what's available in your local shops 😉

Fevicryl mouldit clay also good for craft?
@doitwithme78454 жыл бұрын
I am not sure. I've never used it before. It seems to be slightly different from DAS clay. Das clay is ready to use straight out of a pack and it takes 24h per 1cm to air dry. It's different from the clay you have referred to. It might be different due to different ingredients or amounts of them in a clay.

Hi there! What Air Dry Clay do you use? Ive recently been making some projects with DAS Air Dry Clay and I was super scared just in case it wasn't suitable for candles?? I got told to use Flameless tea lights instead of an actual flame? What are your experiences? Super cute designs! The one I liked the most was probably the swirl one , loved how the light created all the beautiful patterns :)
@doitwithme78454 жыл бұрын
Hi 👋 thank you very much! ☺️ I use DAS clay too. I would recommend using flameless tea lights because Das clay is made from paper with other ingredients in it. Before making my candle holders, I tested the clay by trying to set a dry piece of clay on fire. It only went black and produces smoke but it didn't set on fire. However, I made my candle holders as big as possible to make sure candle holder sides are as far away from a flame as possible and I tested it before using it to make sure it doesn't catch fire. I never leave these candle holders unattended with real tea lights in. I hope this helps.

@@doitwithme7845 Thank you so much! this 100% helped! I also use acrylic paint on mine as well and didn’t really think about the material itself! but i’ll continue with the flameless tea lights anyway! I’m AvrilRose_Creations if you wanted to see some of my work on insta ✨ Have a good one and keep creating 👏🏻👏🏻

Why don’t you adhere the bottom of the tea light holders to the side piece? Why do you wait for it to dry then glue it on?
@doitwithme78453 жыл бұрын
No specific reason. Just wanted to try doing this way and see how it turns out.
@nuffsenuff28903 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Do you put real candles in them? I'm wondering about a flame reacting with the paint.
@doitwithme78453 жыл бұрын
I use real candles and it works fine for me because my candle holders are relatively wide. Also, I never leave then unattended to make sure nothing happens. However, you can use flameless candles. It will look good too 🙂

Really nice especial the autumn leaves holder.Can I ask did you use pva glue for that particular project as im worried if i make it it will fall apart as its quite as basic glue.
@doitwithme78454 жыл бұрын
I did use PVA glue because I wanted to make it as simple as possible and DAS clay is paper based. However, it's not the strongest glue, so you could use any other stronger glue.

All of them are pretty and you have my wow for the maple leaves! So smart to acquire the shape from the leaves. Hey why don’t you put the best best one at first? Cuz I’ve heard that the first 30s of a vid is most critical. Idk, just sharing my thoughts. :)
