Thank you for showing what doesn't work as well as what works. This has been the most inductive video on air dry clay I've seen. Great info!

Lovely ideas and techniques. I've had some great success with placing saran wrap over the clay piece before cutting out your piece. Yields a nice curve. Cuts down on need to sand so much. Thank you for sharing your ideas. Much appreciated.

I love your bowls, but wish you had talked more about the thickness of the clay, whether or not to grease the bowl, how long it takes to dry, how to extract the shape from the bowl, etc. Too much time spent on your stamp collection for me and not enough on manipulating the clay. However, I am pleased you made this video, because I was about to experiment next on stamp images into my clay. 😊. I just want to understand better how to shape the clay.

Use a popsicle stick to push the clay down into the bowl. It's not as thick as your finger and it's flat so you can kind of run it around the edge to flatten it better.

This is so lovely! Can I make a plant pot with this clay and use mod podge to seal the inside? To make it waterproof?
@notashroom4 жыл бұрын
You can definitely make plans pots with any kind of clay, though paper clay like DAS definitely needs waterproofing and Mod Podge might not be strong enough. I would use an acrylic sealant with a few layers, waiting for each to dry completely before applying the next. Or a varnish with UV protectant would be good for sealing it too.

Great tutorial very inspiring I've got a few packs of air dry clay laying around never got around to using think I will have a go at making some Chinese Ming dynasty style bowls using your technique! Have you ever tried to make a mold for your bowls with liquid silicon or maybe even air dry clay? If you pressed the bowl into it upside down it might work and provide a smooth rim?
@nickelvins82726 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking if you use different cookie cutters to make Christmas tree ornaments with the same technique . Use something small to make a hole at the top for hanging. Or maybe just small circles to look like ball ornaments and add bows to the top.
