Thanks brother. I wish more truckers and diesel mechanics would talk more about these oil by-pass filtration systems and how they prolong the life of diesel truck engines and possibly improve fuel mileage. I don't think truck manufacturers (& maybe some mechanic shops) really want the word to get out because they want truckers to continue to spend thousands of dollars per year on oil changes and truck maintenance. I'm just trying to find out the real truth and do what's best for my business and bottom line and I want to encourage other truckers to do the same. Keep the videos coming! You are an inspiration and you keep it real!

Sammy ordered the filter for mine. And going to get it changed soon. 99% of the air dryer issues, comes from that filter not being changed enough. Most drivers have no ideal it needs changing. Used to keep ours changed every 8 months. Never an issues with one. Other bunch that hauled with us each day. They had issues all the time. Asked them one time, if they every changed the filters out? NO its not a service item. Just replace the while deal. Same as rebuilding them. Cost a couple of $$ to rebuild the dryer. But 95% of the people only replace them. I used to keep a rebuild kit in the side box. Along with 2 pan cake gaskets. Love those Pancake gaskets.. Sure beats being stuck on the side of the road.

I usually keep a spare drier and filter in side box, never a rebuild kit though. I didn't know how to rebuild it. Thats about to change though :) Going to rebuild the old one and have a spare still on board. My last truck had me stuck one morning waking up, drier went out. I thought that wont happen again lol I've got to get an alternator too.

Thanks for the video! Not much info is available on the newer Bendix AD-IS air dryers. Mine is due for a cartridge replacement and purge valve... although after pricing those parts it may just be faster and easier to replace the assembly, especially since all the check valves and internals are so picky.
@MakeCentsTrucking
@MakeCentsTrucking 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that was my take too. For the price of the whole piece it made sense to just do that and replace it all.

Sammy I have a suggestion for the next video you make. How about one covering once you started as a carrier with your own authority and the difficulties if any you had being new and dealing with brokers. Example booking loads and the brokers who flat out said you was too new and the ones who gave you a chance. I know Tim from (life is good) sort of skirted over the topic but I would like to hear another perspective on the matter. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all your videos. Super informative! Do you have any advice on by-pass oil filter systems? Are they worth the investment? Do they really save/add to the life of the diesel engines and keep you from changing your oil as often?
@MakeCentsTrucking
@MakeCentsTrucking 6 жыл бұрын
I havent bought one yet, but yes, I'm sold on them. I'll go with Amsoil system when I get one. Especially for an emission engine, it will help keep soot levels down in there and help avoid carbon packing in my opinion. Plus you'll have a Dr. report on your engine health every oil analysis.

So a couple things... my air dryer has always made a clatter/knocking noise when the compressor is running. I don’t know if that’s normal or should I be replacing it? Also I noticed the other day when I was looking underneath the truck... when the pressure release blew off it blows a lot of moisture out. I’m guessing it needs a filter? How much was that dryer?
@MakeCentsTrucking
@MakeCentsTrucking 5 жыл бұрын
yes change that filter once a year. But only get a bendix, they run about $80. They whole dryer assembly is around $500 i think. It's been a min since buying one

who ever will hire you. All the big carriers aren't so bad. If it was me, I'd look into Melton. I know a few that are there and has been there and they all had good reviews.

I hope you checked your air line from the compressor to the governor. If it has a hole in it, the spitter valve will keep releasing air. And actting like the filter is full (bad).

So it was the governor that was bad.... the governor is what makes that purge valve open and close. Always check the cheaper part... a $30 governor or a $500-$600 air dyer... By the way.... a $40 purge valve kit is easier to replace.... 3 screws and it pops out, just a spring and a washer with a rubber seal behind it.
