I just scammed today and it is not a good feeling. I didn’t know there is such a thing because when I used an air duct cleaning service in Colorado, all was well. In TX, it’s a different story. Be very careful who you hire and don’t be afraid to not continue with service if something doesn’t seem right. Your gut feeling is correct.

In California is extremely rare to see this type of ducting as most people do not have basements. How do you clean Wireflex or alumaflex ducting? same tools yes?

@@dushyantgupta11 I have a company in nc if you happen to live there, but no matter what company you hire when they show up ask the lead tech if they clean the blower housing, the coils, and the trunk line. Every real hvac cleaning company does clean those things, but it shows them that you know what your talking about and that they can’t half ass the job lol I’ve learned from experience.

Wish you guys were in Chicago. Please expand nationally! Since you aren’t in Chicago even if we hire a NADCA certified air duct cleaning companies how do we know they will do a job like yours? Most I’ve spoken with say they have 20 horsepower motor that does the cleaning. Do you have a questionnaire we can use to run through with a company before hiring them so we know they will do a job like yours if they’re NADCA certified?

@kristenparks you are very correct and that statement can be said about the whole nation, thorough cleaning/cleanup jobs of ANY type one must follow the workers through every inch or your end up paying for “services” you didn’t get. It’s frankly tiresome and very bad for repeat business. I hope all the people associated with hyper are as knowledgeable as Mitch here, but I know they only subcontract to much smaller outfits in States that they are not set up for. Right, Mitch?!?

This video was made to try and persuade people not to try and clean their air ducts out themselves obviously. One person asked him what the name of his machine was and his ass was he wasn’t sure. Just look at other videos. Most people don’t have 1000.00 laying around and would like to try to do themselves which is why we searched it. I didn’t search for how the “ professional cleaners do it”

Nice video 👍 - thank you! Have you ever seen metal air ducts that are a brown/orange color? Is this a bad sign? When I peer with flashlight (while standing on my too-short, crappy step ladder) thru my overhead air registers that were brilliantly painted shut, the metal looks to not be silvery in color, but a brown/orange color. My condo building was built in 1965. I live in generally very dry climate in Southern California. I'm going to have my ducts cleaned since I just had renovation completed.

Hope this isn’t too late, but if the sheet metal is one solid color and doesn’t vary throughout, it is probably mild steel sheet metal that has been coated or painted usually brown on one side and an orange-like color on the other. It is only a rust preventative, as the metal used wasn’t galvanized steel (a semi-shiny, silver color with small areas of uneven light and dark spots multiple times per inch in a RANDOM pattern. This coated sheet metal is just as good as galvanized and the coating is baked on and very tough, don’t be fooled by anyone telling you that you must have new ductwork installed. This is only needed when air (cool or hot) is not reaching every end register usually each register has a single duct, usually soft flexible, going to it.
