I’m currently at bmt for the Airforce and this isn’t what happened for us at the beginning. We got our dorms the night we showed up and on Day 2 we got tested for Corona. Sadly someone in my flight did have covid so I’m in quarantine in one of the hotels on base and I’ve been here for almost 2 weeks. They gave us our phones back and I’m scheduled to return to my squadron in 2 days. If you got tested and no one in your flight tested positive then you would continue bmt under ROM status until the end of week 2 then everything goes back to normal.

Your a smart one! BMT is nothing you can't handle, its designed to push you but not made to break you, your real focus should be heavily on getting the job you want. @@zeusdarkgod7727 I want to join the air force, but don't know what job I wanna do any advice?
@zeusdarkgod77273 жыл бұрын
@@bohto808 depends on your intrest honestly. If you wanna travel on a daily basis load master is the perfect job but its pretty math intensive. I would recommend something that pays well on the outside that way if you decide the military isn't for you your pretty set up; that would be NDI, heating and air conditioning, helicopter crew chief (other jobs working on the jets as well, but most jobs like that you work 12+ hour days and are honestly kind of trash to deal with the bs) i myself would shoot for something like NDI or xray technician they pay great on the outside and are decently comfortable jobs to have in the military. Just stay far away from security forces and if you can anything other than jobs i listed that take your towards flightline.

@@bohto808 at the end of the day go for something that interests you, i was not mechanically inclined before I came in but the school gave me the tools to learn my job and over time my job taught me how to be a mechanic; no one seriously expects you to be amazing at what ever job you get from the getgo so don't stress to much about it. Study well for the asvab so you have a larger pool of jobs to pick from and figure out what your intrested in be it computers, mechanical, admin, building what would you most want to learn if given the choice. I can only tell you what are good jobs from my experience and people I have talked to, i had an xray tech buddy who was on call every day when everyone else i knew was working 12 to 13 hour days, ndi is kind of a dream job for all flightline mechanics because we see them not dealing with the same bs we have to and it sets you up for great jobs on the outside, had a buddy who delt with computers and he had some pretty amazing certificates that would carry over to the civilian world and he loved his job, and in my job i got a universal heating and air certification even though i almost never use it with my job. At the end of the day your not joining the airforce to be a badass, there are jobs and opportunities for that; every base i have been to has martial arts classes you can do and if you get a base that has SERE you can enroll for it very fun if you get the chance; but use the airforce as a stepping stone for life. Just avoid security forces like its the plague. 😉

If you're @ Tech School, what's up w/the black earings? Just curious: did you TIs spew daily profanity at trainees in BMT? When I graduated in '92, every other word from our primary TI was "F*ck this, that, the other..." or "What/Why the f*ck are you doing xyz?" "I'm gonna hook your ass up..." Some comical, most incited fear as we didn't know the extent of all these profane-laced threats...what he could he really do to us, vs. what was fake yelling to motivate our butts. (I say you aren't in true BMT if flights aren't smothered w/profanity during this "military combat-simulated scenario", all the screaming profanity has a decades-long history & purpose in the AF & other branches. Think of it, boot camp is designed to simulate combat scenarios (firing M-16, PT, BEAST, moving w/sense of urgency, teamwork, screaming motivation, attention to detail) all simulate real military conflict from the TIs, Dorm Chief & Element Leaders. Real world deployment for conflicts are full of profanity, it motivates subordinate airmen so they don't screw up under pressure & NCOs have orders from officers they need Airmen to follow exactly. Serious situations are identified by serious f*ckin speech. In true, chaotic scenarios there's no time for political correctness or polished, proper edited language, when lives are on the line. Hence BMT is for our TIs' vulgar constant profanity as a realistic, but safe & honest way to prepare trainees for urgent, real-world combat action, which (as you saw) was the entire purpose of BMT, (it wasn't about folding underwear). Anyway, I was just curious 😉
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
I am at tech school on my days off or when i am not on duty they will allow you to wear earrings if you choose too, just never allowed in uniform. And i agree with your comment it is necessary for TI's to yell and say all kinds of stuff. BMT is trying to cut back on profanity and all of that to an extent, mainly just the profanity but the screaming and funny comments towards trainees is all still very much alive.

@@AirmanNick Oh ok, that makes sense then. Cool. Have fun @ Tech School. Mine was @ Keesler & sort of was "work at your own pace" so I got done in a month & returned to my home base (I was in the Air Nat'l Guard for 6 yrs & had picked my job/met my supervisor all before leaving for basic.) Boss was a Major. I volunteered for TDY at The Pentagon as E-4 & got to do 3-mth summers on active duty each summer I had off from college (paid by Illinois + GI Bill payments) It was a sweet deal for full-time college. I even got to work for our Wing Commander, a Brig General for a while as E-3, since my office was already in HQ bldg on Air Refueling Wing base. (Many guys in BMT were jealous upon discovering us Guard / Reserve Airmen, since we had our bases & job AFSCs locked in b4 BMT. Some didn't know about the differences.) Majority of flight were active duty Airman that filled out a sheet w/selections for job/base locations, I think. Enjoy Tech School!
