Man this brings back memories. Good luck to you with your career. I graduated basic in June of 2004. The best night of BMT was the final night before Keesler. After graduation the MTI was so much cooler and just nice and you feel so proud of yourself.

I've got 2 questions 1) how strict are the shaving rules? Like my husband is heading to BMT soon but he tends to shave every 3 days or so because he's very blonde and his hair really doesn't grow in all that fast 2) when are you allowed to have hair again and what are the standards that are set? I know for BMT you have to rock the Q ball look but obviously your hair is longer now
@Acerunner3r4 жыл бұрын
For the first question they’ll still have you shave. I’m the same way as your husband but you still shave. 2.) whenever you graduate you can somewhat grow your hair again. At BMT you’ll get a nice brand new top of the line bald haircut again in later weeks.

In tech school and so on*
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
We were shaving every single day of bmt, they would yell at us if they saw hair on our face he might be able to slide by if it’s not noticeable especially since we have to wear masks now. Yes in tech school you finally get to grow your hair back out, it has to be shaved on the sides and can not get long enough to touch ur ears on the sides and u can’t have it long enough to touch ur eyebrows on the top. You will have to gel it and have a more professional haircut if you grow it out up top. Hope this answered your questions! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hey airman nick, whats the policy with ear peircings? I see you have some on but are those removable or did you pierce your ears after BMT?
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
The policy with earrings is if your a male you are not allowed to wear earrings during duty or in uniform, but you are allowed when your out of uniform or just not working. I already had them pierced previously to joining. Females are allowed to wear earrings in uniform and on duty but no hoops or big long earrings lol.

Hey I’m not sure if you mentioned this in another video or not but what’s the phone policy or rule like at bmt since Covid is still around? Like is there a specific time trainees get their phones back or does it depend. My fiancé is on his 4th day at bmt and I was just wondering how it worked.
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
During Covid 19 they will tend to allow him to call home way more than normal, usually you will only get like 2 or 3 phone calls but now it’s like double that if they are still doing it.
@kiyora43803 жыл бұрын

How are phones going during covid, I've heard maybe 2 or 3 different things.
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
So when I was going through bmt, we received a couple phone calls home. They would typically try to let us call home once a week to tell our family we were alright usually was like a 5-10 minute call. But that was mainly bc we were going through bmt during the very start of the pandemic, could be different now.

Airman Nick How are they approaching weekends during tech school? My recruiter said that it’s highly recommend not to have visitors but on weekends it’s your decision what you do. Is it up to your leadership? I’m married so I was curious if id be aloud to at least see her after I finish BMT.
@AirmanNick4 жыл бұрын
Yes you would be able too, however some tech schools are still on lock down and only way to see her if on lock down would be if she had a military ID to enter base. My tech school however isn’t on lock down just visitors aren’t allowed on bc of Covid, but I can always go off base on Friday Saturday and Sunday. If this is same as your base when you get there those are the days you can see her on.

Hey, so my bf just previously left last Tuesday for bmt and I wanted to know like how many weeks will he be there. I know it is 7.5 weeks, but is that including zero week? Also, I wanted to know more about the amount of time you guys have to read and write letters. Also, when do you receive the letters that are sent to you?

He will be there about 7 weeks total, which does include 0 week. We had 10 minutes usually to read and write letters a day after the 1st week of training, you usually will receive letters as they arrive everyday they will do mail call and hand out the mail and as long as you guys are doing good and not getting in trouble you will be allowed to open and read them the same night.
