Hey man, I am a fellow AF Vet. Life in the military is rough at times. Leadership sometimes put you down and you have to keep the eye on the prize. Keep that focus on those things you want to achieve. Surround yourself with the good NCO's, they'll get you through whatever it is you are going through. I had a lot of help from my NCO's to get me to progress in my career. Best of wishes and keep the hard work brother!

Not sure if you have ever seen Marine barracks but goddamn this is luxurious compared to our "rooms" we get. Ya'll even get to move out into your own apartment/house when you get E-4 whilst we still have to stay in the barracks with a roommate with no private space except the bathroom. Talk about jealousy!

Thank you for sharing. My sons been at Eglin close to (1) year & last month got ranked to Airman First Class. I keep telling him to send me a video & pictures so I know what to get him. I'd love any recommendations on what you'd suggest. (LOL) He did mention the beds aren't great. I ordered a 2" cooling gel/memory foam topper & says the beds much better. He's very passive so any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate. P.S. Absolutely love your Nipsey Hussle quote. Great quote, always live by it. At Fort Polk army barracks in Louisiana, due to an increased population of single soldiers and limited housing; room sharing program was introduced to help address this challenge. Bah is rewarded to single soldiers and half of it is deducted from each room occupant. The remaining half balance of bah is saved. For those that would prefer not to share on base houses, they are given bah to search for a house off-base. I feel this is a good opportunity for those that select to live on a shared on-base room at Fort Polk, this decision can enable them to increase savings as well as meet their financial obligation i.e loan payments. Is there a possibility that there is such an opportunity for singles in airforce bases, if so which airbase???

If you are able to live off base ( e-4 with 3 years, married, children, or other exception), yes you will be able to have your dog with you. Unfortunately, most pets aren’t allowed in the dorms.

How does it work when you get promoted on each rank? Is it based on your job or the amount of time you're in? Would love to get some information on this before joining.
@thelifewithkev2 жыл бұрын
Promotion for the junior enlisted ranks (E1-E-4) are automatic and based on time in rank/grade. It’s 6 months to get to E-2, another 10 months for E-3, and another 20 months for E-4. Once you reach NCO (Staff Sergeant and beyond) it’s based on your job accomplishments, and you’ll go up to a board. There is also the opportunity to get E4 6 months early by going up to a board and competing with other successful airman. Here’s a link that explains it all in more depth: www.military.com/air-force/enlisted-ranks.html

@@thelifewithkev how long E-3 to E-4 if i enlist with bachelor degree?
@TerioBeats Жыл бұрын
@Muhammad Usman in your case, it would be 28 months from the day you began BMT. example: if you began BMT on 5 JUL 2020, your date of rank for E-4 would be 5 NOV 2022.

Just like the good old days. Single airman always get screwed over while the married airmen of equal rank get a whole lot more! At least one can now be gay, married and enjoy the same privileges. In the good old days, single airmen, two to a room, and a latrine down the hall and a meal card. Fortunately for me, I did not have to deal with that!
