I graduated in 2016 with my MSW and never worked in the field but I suddenly decided I might want to do military social work.
@cristix112 ай бұрын
what? do you understand the military. its easy: person makes O4 field grade, no one in authority cares about what the MSW says about career bs. you know why? because Psychiatrist and Psychologists are telling them the complete opposite of what the LCSWs are saying.

People who have a hard time handling life without a SW counselor are not good security risks. Not certifiable under PRP. One must look at how many O-4s, O-5s and O-6s are in that field. One can;t remain as a MSW for an entire career. AF does not work that way.

How can I get info about AFCS clinical social worker? Who can I get in contact with instead of just the AFCS website?

Hi, my name is Raymond. I’m a medical services officer in the Army National Guard and I am currently completely my clinical hours to receive my MN LICSW. Once I have my LICSW I would love to join the Air Force as an Active Duty clinical social worker. What advice do you have for me to prepare my packet for the recruiter?

What happens when you’re placed on the alternate list for health profession program? Do they usually select those candidates on the list? I’m #4.

Do you need to be licensed to be an Intern?
@318rcsofficertalentacquisi53 жыл бұрын
Must have a LCSW for the intern positions. Thank you!
@artrayus32 жыл бұрын
@@318rcsofficertalentacquisi5 If someone has a fully independent/clinical license, then it's no longer an "internship" at that point. Most states require 3,000 hours of clinical work experience supervised by a fully licensed social worker and then passing the 4-hour exam to obtain full licensure. At that point, the social worker can open their own private practice and operate at the fullest extent of licensure. I don't understand how/why this person would be an "intern" at that point. I myself am fully licensed in multiple states with experience working with virtually every population and setting and I'm currently working at the VA and as a professor at a state university teaching military culture. I am also a veteran. I was interested in a commission as a social worker after graduation until I was told by a recruiter that I had to have my independent license. I think there's a lot of confusion about what license is needed considering at least one of the people in this video states she's an LMSW (which is NOT full licensure) and one comment on here says you can apply as an LMSW and another comment was responded to saying you cannot apply with an LMSW. I've also seen this confusion at the VA.

Are applicants for the year-long SW Internship able to choose which base they go to or are they assigned one? Also, if we do the internship right after MSW graduation, do we obtain the additional year of experience needed for LCSW licensure as an active duty member?
@delanywilde49542 жыл бұрын
You need to have 2 years post-grad experience and become licensed before you can join the residency program.
