Air India launching flights to new north American destinations like Boston, Dallas,Houston,Atlanta,Miami , Los Angeles,Denver will be a true game changer! It will pose a huge competition with European & US Airlines who frequently fly indian passengers in/out of the country to key destinations in India such as Delta/KLM/AirFrance or BA/American/Qatar One World Alliance

Yes US should be the focus market for AI, some routes even have the capability for a double daily, dont know why AI is wasting its fleet on double daily to Toronto with AC also doing a daily. Auckland is also large market not served by any direct connection from India.

@Bugsbunny4u yeah a lot of times it's based on Slots at airports too. Reason why they doubled Toronto cuz of more Indians traveling. For Auckland, I don't think they will ever fly direct cuz other airlines offer feasibility like Singapore,Cathay,Japan Airlines where people can transit easily and fly to India. I am really waiting for [ Dallas -> Hyderabad and Atlanta -> Hyderabad ] routes. There is so much potential for these routes given the huge south Indian diaspora presence around these areas. Wish AI will have something for these routes soon. Ever since British Airways has gotten too expensive since the Ukrain-Russia war, there are no one stop services in these routes. Now only services available for us is to fly through Mumbai and that adds an extra stop and we have to re-check-in our luggage into Indigo(code share partner) and that is pain in the bottom to go through those long check-in lines. Not to mention the layover.

There are plenty of other major cities from which air india can start flights to international destinations from. Ahmedabad, Surat etc. if air india can provide direct flights from these cities to international destinations, the middle eastern carriers will see their demand from india dry up. Most people flying to India have to make connections through Delhi or Mumbai anyway. At that point, I might as well take a Middle Eastern carrier because it’s also just one stop before I go to Kochi, Trivandrum or Madras. Indigo has a lot partnership with Middle Eastern carriers. So from Doha, you can easily access multiple Indian cities and bypass the chaos of Delhi and Mumbai airports. Air India needs to open more direct flights to these other big Indian cities and have airport hubs that are more friendly and seamless.

Normally, they go either to Newark or Newyork international Airport for their home journey, mostly,as Qatar did switch with American Airlines, which one is happy by their sudden changes of aircraft, which it inconvenience most of the traveller, and food is not palatable for most of Old citizens of India, who visit US almost during summer schedule. The condition of old beaten up air crafts on Delhi-Toronto sector being operated by Air India is terrible. Around 70% of entertainment systems not working, old worn out & torn seats, planes falling apart. Air India is giving itself & it's partner "Singapore Airlines" a Bad name by continuing to operate such aircrafts. They charge for all the services but do not provide basic services like functional entertainment systems. The reason that they are going to change to newer aircrafts soon does not give them an excuse to operate such, old & beaten up aircrafts. They should be refunding money to people for the inconvenience caused.

There will be tremendous competition from Emirates and Qatar as they have connectivity to many cities in India thru hubs in Dubai and Doha - from many cities in US. Either they themselves fly or with partner carriers. Example one can travel from Philadelphia to Doha continuing to India which Air India doesn't offer. Traveling on Air India to Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune require a connection with a layover in Delhi or Mumbai similar to what the middle eastern carriers are offering. Sometimes the connection via Delhi or Mumbai require an overnight stay which could be quite tiring. However what is interesting is Emirates used to offer a direct flight to Dubai and then to different cities in India from Newark earlier - now that United is flying to Dubai Emirates has stopped the direct flight and now it stops in Athens !!

Unfortunately the joint conspirators are not only U. S. Airline/s but even the Indian Aviation Ministry/minster (ex Indian Aviation Minister/P Patel was example) which is induced/influenced by US (kickback may well be), Hoax messages of bomb threats against Air India, the Aircraft supplier BOEING of US (creating deliberate hurdles in Delivering New Aircrafts on time as ordered and also spares for other fleet), even US airport/control authorities on and off hinderances against Air India's flights in and out of U. S. airports. Questions are: What is this Foreign origin CEO Campbell is doing about all these problems cropping up against Air India, especially on US/India routes with evasive answers and excuses when interviewed recently about all the ongoing problems with little if any improvement since takeover? Why Air India was compelled to buy even any new Air Craft from BOEING rather than even all of them from AIR BUS? Why resulting from breach of contract order with extensively late deliveries of Air Craft and feet dragging on spares the orders with BOEING cannot be CANCELLED with demand for huge damages to Air India? Why Air India cannot ask/tell Indian Aviation Ministry about what is happening and may ask even to take up matters with US authorities about route and other operating issues to and from US other compared to US airlines? If there really was DUE DELIGENCE process done before and during takeover, these problems of significantly old, damage and inadequately maintained Aircraft Fleet should have been addressed as anticipated rather than waiting for this almost two years into making now?
