It's a 3/4 scale bass often played by guitarists who want to rock bass as a. Rythym instrument and do more groove centric melodies. The gretch used by royale blood is on my shopping list

The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is run by elitists. The inductees are mainly from the Angloshpere and there are no French inductees to my knowledge. Seems blatantly bigoted.

As far as chill out music goes, this is a water shed moment in music. Whatever is written no matter how good, will always be measured against this song. 1997 is when it was written, never has a song personified a musical feeling like this. Every time I hear this I am blown away. All I need ain't half bad either......

You are so right Richie!! I do the same with this song and any performance of it! I say, can any other bands song top "La Femme d'Argent", if it's a song, and if it's a band playing live, can it top Air's performance of La Femme d"Argent..and the answer is of course usually hell no!!! I'm not saying I won't like (insert band name) but I just put them in a different class, one way below Air!! Air are tops at what they do!! And for this song to be from 1997 and continues to blow away any other band is amazing!!! Thanks for sharing your opinion Richie...cool to see we are on the same wavelength amigo!! Haha

This is actually throwback music. They've been making stuff like this since the 70s. Listen to Billy Cobham, Ahmad Jamal, Quincy Jones, Shuggie Otis. Not denying that Moon Safari is a great work, but it's just a reminder that all that great stuff exists, and they're just bringing it to a wider audience.

Two of my favourite parts: the piece beginning at 3:20, just when the bass kicks in again, and the piece beginning at 4:09 when the pace picks up again and there's the wordless communication between bass and drums in order to establish perfect synchrony between them, then Nicolas Godin pulls back to take centre stage again.

I saw them live in San Diego like 10 years ago and it was like going to a rock concert. What they do is recalibrate your predisposed thought of what intense music can be, and then they hold your hand through their music. I was afraid I would fall asleep at the show and I was just insanely wired. They did this song for their closing and people were almost moshing and having sex at the same time. It was insane.
