Yes; I just listened to it last night for the first time in a while and found it fantastic. Beautiful production, full of imagination, surprises, atmosphere, wonderful melodies and even humour. I've always loved that album, though. I never did understand the way it was treated. But it does seem to be getting even better with age.

Really fantastic to hear Nicolas telling about what's in his back at Amoeba! 👍❤✌ There was a time you could hear songs by Air on the radio in Puerto Rico, just like in the old days when a tune "hit" you through the airwaves on the street, the shops, the bus stop, the markets... and you search for the record and play it to death at home. Man I just love my Air records!!! ... Bacharach is such a smart choice, encyclopedic timeless Burt songbook with top voices, no misses there!

Wow, there was an unexpected flashback for me. As soon as the clip of "Here Come the Fleas" by White Noise started playing, I immediately recognized it, but without knowing when I heard it before. I pulled it up and knew the lyrics as they were being sung, but I could only assume it was from the Dr. Demento show that I listened to regularly in the 80s. It's probably been about 35 years since I've heard that track!

He makes a good point that less technically accomplished musicians make better records, because they have to get more creative and work around their limitations. This even applies to Frank Zappa. I think his early 60s stuff is his best, when he was working with less competent musicians. When he got a bunch of virtuosos backing him in the 70s-80s, his stuff got less interesting, imo.
@christineharrelson48312 жыл бұрын
Good point. I never put that together, why I don't like much Zappa past the 60's.

Glenn Gould is a freaky genius...Watch Glenn Gould Off The Record. Truly a strange and ridiculously gifted man. His recordings of Bach's Goldberg Variations (whatever that is all about) are breathtaking.
