I was there years ago and they had a big pile of found aircraft parts, assumably salvaged from the Pacific, outside one of the hangers. Outrageous aircraft collection.

Visited the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, CA last Saturday. Also visited the Yanks Air Museum in Chino the same day. If you like vintage aircraft, these two museums are tops in my book.

The N9M experienced an engine fire on take-off and returned safely to the airport, but suffered some engine damage. The damaged parts had to be custom fabricated by hand. It will be returning to the skies later this year. We are also very close to completing the restoration of our P-59 to flying status, and when it flys, it will be the oldest flying jet in the world. I never cease to be amazed by the aircraft inventory at Planes of Fame.

If anything, it should be considered the "Packard of the air", given that Packard manufactured many of those Merlin engines under license in the US.

Thanks so much for letting me know. I'll have to make it there in May. I really love those old planes and every once in a while I see one or two flying over my house. I got a real treat once when a P-38 and P-51 flew over! Thanks again and Happy Holidays to you.

Good video. Its hard to pick from our approximately 150 aircraft to include in a video. We have about 40 flying warbirds at Planes of Fame. Thanks for the video and your support. Come see us again...we'll leave a light on and a hanger door open for ya.

@shermanace I guess davvvvo ment the Junker 52 not the Stuka. There are NO original flying Stuka's around, only crashed ones are on display in some musea.
@LateNightCable

Actually, the two intact Stukas are very complete, with at least one running. Both could be made airworthy eventually, given the funding, so don't rule that out.

@POFmuseum Thank you so much. I love and wish to help preserve history. I flew in the B-24 witchcraft back in August at Bolton field in Ohio and it was one of the greatest moments in my life. to both fly and at the same time donate to a historic fund was worth every penny.

@Vash1980 its an odd duck. skyraider is part of the late ww2 piston engine R&D programs. It was long in the tooth by the time nam rolled around. Look down the fuselage of this plane. Theres sky raider and bearcat wrote all over it. Trike gear suggest a trainer prototype of sorts.
@Vash1980
@Vash1980 13 жыл бұрын
@Tarten46 Na wouldn't be a variant of the Sky Radier it was used in Vietnam. At first I thought it was a Corsair but then I didn't see the bend in the wings. Interseting plane though, kinda looks like an American Zero with foldable wings LOL.

@davvvvo Its possible that it wasn't theirs. Remeber, Fighter Rebuilders is right next door, one hanger away, so many old birds will sit in the PoF hangers on display. Currently, there is a BF-109 that was shot down over Russia and was recently recovered from a lake awaiting Restoration. Its sitting in Chinos hangers for all to see till then

There are NO flying Ju 87's and only 2 complete, 1 in a museum in Chicago, a tropical version with no wheel covers and a european version in the RAF museum in London. The tricycle undercarriaged navy experimental aircraft is a strange hybrid piston/ jet called the Ryan Fireball FR1, as the navy didn't trust jet only aircraft at that time. The "big junker" is the Ju52, trimotor transport. Most of the flying examples are CASA spanish licence built versions.

@georgejelfs67 Like their Sopwith Replica, DeHavilland Vampire, Folland Gnat Mk. 1, Supermarine Schneider Trophy Racer, and Yak-3. I'm sorry if a California baced Museum who has an amazing aray for Pacific baced fighters, don't have as many European baced birds. Spits are not in short supply at the airshows it puts on, but this museum has a very Pacific outlook. I'm sorry if this is the first A6M Zero to use its original engine. God, the UK thinks they are all that (Sarcasm)

Wow, Canada did a great job fighting the Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth) and the less than impressive 716th Division with little to no, combat experience, and augmented by "East Battalions" made up of Soviet 'volunteer' troops. Canadian troops basically walked up the shore, Juno was nowhere near the intensity of Omaha beach or Pointe du Hoc. Impressive indeed.

Dude, I didn't leave anything out, all I did was refute your garbage and misconceptions (The Iron Cross?). OF course the Panzer divisions had some tanks, was I also supposed to list all the soldiers by name? The point is that Canadian troops did well, but also fought one of the weakest and poorly trained German divisons in Normandy. Your problem is that Canada gets less credit than you think is should, so you demean the American & British performance to achieve that? Yeah, that makes sense.
@broadjumper1

"Hollywood kind of snuffs the canadian film industry".... "but hey, you americans seem to think of yourselves as top dogs" Well, when you "snuff" the others, you ARE the top dog. But I never claimed the US won the wars on its own and I'm well aware of the Dieppe raid, in many ways it was a rehearsal for Overlord. I never said Canadian troops didn't fight hard or didn't deserve credit or shoudn't be honored, but their contribution is no where near that off the US, England, or Russia.
