Tank hulks

I visited the museum myself for the first time in early October this year and had a really pleasent afternoon just wandering around. I've always been a Churchill tank fan and to have so many in such a small place was nothing short of remarkable. The people who work there are very friendly indeed. Sadly I never did get any pictures of the M47 Patton or the T-54. But with some luck, they will still be there next year when I return. :) A special thank you to all who work there.

I wish I were rich (in money), so that I could donate a ton to these guys. I loved watching them work, on Tank Overhaul. But, I am so poor, I can't even buy a 1/72 scale kit, lol.

hes right it was fast and could get everywhere whereas a king tiger cant and is very slow but it has a gd cannon

@Nicholasdude187 It looked like they were restoring one at 4:55 and I agree but for the tanks that are so rare to see...It would be cool to at least see what the turret hull and gun looked like..even if it is shot up and rusted..

Sufkiller No. The white one its from a Cruiser Mk VIII Challenger, the rusty ones are from Comet I Tank (A34). Look for pictures at Wikipedia and see for yourself.

@9394JP731 Just a guess, but possibly it was .50 cal ammo inside the turret cooking off and shooting through from the inside? Not sure if .50 would penetrate though, even from the inside.

@COALMONK5-Yeah I was just wondering the same thing because when I was in the army on training grounds there would be ruined tanks and they called them tank hulks,so hulk just means a destroyed tank basically?

@KristianCramer ur right...first service at the schwere Panzerabteilung 502 in august 1942..whats he talkin about?(bozimo1)...maybe he mistaken the years and the place and tank ??? BTW the only tank build for droppin from a plane was the Panzer II (Luchs)...a light tank with a 2cm kwk and a maximum speed of 70 km/h.and this tank was also build in 1942..and they never used the tank for a "paradrop" so i think bozimo1 has no idea of the ww2 tanks or history....

Bei Kursk stehen noch jede Menge Panzer, Deutsche Typ IV und Panther sowie halt Rußische KV und T34 Panzer, ich Denke bei einer Wandstärke 15cm dauert es auch noch eine Weile bis die Weggerostet sind. :-))

first these are not knocked out tanks ...some were in firing ranges and he bought them(the sherman was) he took too badly shot up Shermans ... cut the good front off one and good rear hull off the other and welded it togather and used turret race to hold it as he welded it...the bad front half was at 2:55 with the turret and race just after... later you see the progress on that sherman... great welder can't even see the weld..... BBC program on this.. look for it...

I just wish that even though its a tank JUNKYARD that ppl should still try to keep it tidy this guy just lays the parts all over really unprofessional for something that is our history he should sort it out and setup his junkyard as neat as possible.....great place though for ppl to wonder and imagine

Tiger tanks?.. parachuted? in 41?... where the hell have you heard that shit? The tiger was way to heavy to be paradropped and it was first put into service over a year after the invasion of crete.

see the program and you'll see the transmission of Tiger and Panther were both crap... proper gun andits no contest with Sherman which could road march 2000miles on a set of tracks vs 200 miles for Tiger... imagine tactical advantage in that alone.... last Sherman tweaked in Israel could chew it up with that HV 60mm gun... or the older 105 mm.... but its still same transmisson, engine and tracks... Germany conquered with Mk I, II, and III's ..... they lost with Tigers and Panthers...
