Now the lockdown has eased enough to let us out to do some vermin control again i was asked by a farmer on a new permission to try and reduce the number of rabbits on a couple of fields that he was planing to reseed this year as he didn't want the rabbits destroying the new seedling grass before it has a chance to properly take root. So i took the FX Crown and Pard Night Vision for some static rabbit control into the night.
Rifle FX Crown .22cal 30+ft/lb
Scope Bushnell Elite Tactical 2-16x42
Pellets JSB Hades
Night Vision Pard 007 Add On & 019 Spotter
Range Finder Bushnell Scout 1000
Vanguard Quest T62U Shooting Stick
RunCam Scope Cam

Great video, love the humor, and yes, that damn wind at long range can destroy any ones thinking in the field, but once you find the effect on your pellets, it's back to business! And the new kit is pretty awesome! The night vision is so, so worth it! The 8 yard rabbit, WAIT, make it 7 yards, cause of my big feet had me rolling!!! Don't ever change your style, you've been doing videos for a ton of years, keep that narration a comin'!!

Enjoying your videos, thankyou. I like the way you include the misses and how you rectified the follow up shots , talking through it to explain what you changed also. makes it more relatable, I'm sure many just show the perfect headshots which it isn't always. And conditions are rarely perfect either.

Complete respect for your decisions on what you do and don't shoot. Yes the young will grow and reproduce and cause damage to the crop but also I guess you wouldn't want to completely eradicate the species from the area (if that were possible) Continued management will benefit both the farmer and yourself. Really enjoy the videos mate. keep them coming. The Crown looks like an awesome tool but well outside my price range. NI looks like a beautiful part of the world. Not as wet as here in Manchester!

It is not so obvious from the video footage how windy it was. Just goes to show how a little wind affects the trajectory of an airgun pellet in relatively short distances even for a 30 ft.lbs FAC gun. Very good results in difficult conditions.

@@HuntersVermin i know you are a good shot and know your craft but it also goes to show people not to take shot beyond their capability :( ie: people shooting further than they should and even more so when there is a wind up.. the old addage is practice practice and practice some more before shooting live quarry.. the amount that don't check zero is also mind boggling, their attitude oh it is on zero from the last time i was out shooing ? eh maybe no it's not

HuntersVermin the hades will drop the hoodies very nicely and they are great on Maggie’s too. Crown is a funny beast, unlike the impact you can’t get really silly speed for the slugs so 2 or 3 on the wheel will still shoot pellets at the 850-940 area. Only prob with slugs is where they go if you miss

There’s no hypocrisy in refusing a shot you don’t feel good about. Also did it a few times with foxes and such. If it doesn’t sit good with you, it’s better to pass on it. I don’t feel like I have to prove something to myself when hunting, if we gonna applaud ourselves for being able to shoot everything we put our crosshairs on, I’m afraid we have lost the most important aspect of hunting, it’s something we do that comes from deep inside our heart, not a clinical sport that requires you to disregard what your heart tells you.

I remember in one of your older videos you spotted a fox on one of your hunts and was talking about it. In the united kingdom or northern Ireland is it still legal to hunt fox's? Or shoot foxes still if they become a threat to farm birds and small farm animals.
@HuntersVermin
@HuntersVermin 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is still legal to shoot problem foxes but England and Northern Ireland differ a bit on what you can shoot a fox with as i found out not so long ago you can only shoot a fox with a center fire rifle no larger than .22 caliber (i'm not sure about shotguns) but your not allowed to use larger calibers for deer control in Northern Ireland but as far as i know you can use any center fire or rim fire rifle to control foxes in England but i would check that out with the BASC in your area to make sure i'm right.
