Air Venturi Avenger 80yrd. PLUS O-ring delete!

So here it went! Not as far out as we would of liked to be shooting but it will have to do for the moment. 80 yard shooting with the air venturi avenger in .22cal shooting 23gr .216 NSA slugs on a power tune. Regulator was set 2500psi and 5.5 turns on the hammer spring should put us around the 45ish fpe with about 50 shots before a fill up! SO! We got a few shots downrange for you guys, but as usual wind was blowing pretty decent.
So until we can get back out there (at a longer distance), this is what we got for now.

I did the .22 oring delete before this video from the same seller. Way consistent on FPS. Got to retune as the velocity increases due to no blow by on the orings. I was doing a 100yd day and was cracking eggs shot after shot. I ran out of eggs having fun so put up the golf balls. Fun to watch them fly. I was using JSB heavies 18.13 with a 1900 reg and 3.5 turns on the HS. Gave me 880 FPS and about 80 shots until off the reg. Don’t have the Donny fl adapter yet but have an oring on the barrel shroud 2 inches from the end to give support from the air tube. That gave better groups to start, but will look at an additional barrel band in the future. Great little air rifle to get me into the pcp world.

Adding an oring in the first 2 inches of the shroud won't help at all, it will blow back against the center support and make your gun louder.

@@schlomoshekelstein908 wont work. Poi will shift. Order the Marauder shroud with baffles from crosmans 1800 parts dept. Get the parts numbers off crosman website for the Marauder. This will freefloat and look nice. No more poi change and super quiet.

In addition to the O ring delete kit I camfered the barrel end to remove the sharp edge. On my gun as other on you tube the pellet pin is not centered to the barrel causing the o ring to be forced into the sharp edge before entering the barrel. The remove the sharp edge (chamfering the edge) a dremel tool with a small tapered stone was used and worked very well. Before grinding a cleaning swab was place into the barrel to prevent shaving from entering. After the chamfering the O ring was not penched against the sharp edge and entered the balled smoothly.

Good question, I think that might come down to personal preference but if I had to choose one I'd stick with what I know and take the avenger. Also speaking of those they are releasing a new avenger that looks like a solid choice in my opinion. I think they are saying it will be released sometime in July 2023

Thank you.That was is a donny-fl moderator adapter. it slides down over the barrel and helps center the barrel in the shroud for greater accuracy.

May I suggest AVS Slugs. Stephen made them just for this barrel. Same barrel as the Nova Vista Liberty bud and mine shoots them like freaking laser beams. As you may know the Liberty is the Generation 1 of the Avenger. I bought the .25 cal Avenger because the Liberty wasn't available here in the states in .25 and always wanted a .25 Liberty. No complaints in my Avenger .25 either. 2 of my favorite guns. I shoot them even more than my LCS SK-19 .25 cal to be fair and they are just as accurate out to 80 yards as it is. That said they can shoot slugs...I have yet to find a slug that shoot well in the LCS at any speed. The Liberty and Avenger shoot mostly everything well. Not so with the LCS.

Trying to decide between the .22 and the .25- i really want the .22 for cheaper ammo plinking, but not sure it will be enough pellet for garden pests like woodchucks, or skunks? Also after seeing the wind throw it off at 80 yards that much with not a lot of high wind (I know it was gusting, but it didn't seem ot be that high of gusts compared to what i experienced the other day?) I'm not sure i want the .22 now? The slug you used is pretty heavy for a .22 so it should have cut the wind pretty good, but it didn't seem to? Especially with a Max Power Tune? My .25 Seneca Eagle Claw reaches out to 100 yards in winds like you had in the video with minimal drift with 27.8 or so gr pellets- (on max power setting for hammer spring- Note- I'm not bragging- I'm a horrible shot really- I'm just trying to understand why the big difference in wind drift between the two calibers? ). The thing i don't like about the Seneca though is the constant drop in fps - have to keep readjusting scope to match the drop - a regulator woudl keep all the usable shots in pretty much same fps range, which is why im looking at avenger - just gotta decide on .22 or .25

Well personally I think I would go with a 25 caliber if you want to take out bigger pests. I do understand shot placement is everything and you can take out those bigger pests with a .22 but .25 will do it more humanely and also more forgiveness on shot placement. Also those heavier options available for slugs and pellets in .25cal. So pretty much the weight is going to be your friend when battling the wind 😁 I hope I helped. Shoot safe and shoot straight!

Someone is making a killing off of selling little chopped up pieces of 3/16 small engine fuel line for $10 each, LOL! I ordered one of these kits and compared to said fuel line that can be obtained from Advanced Auto by the foot for a few dollars and it's identical in every way. Save yourself some money, make 5 or so "O-ring delete kits" and still have line left over to repair your gasoline weed eater.

Those crossman pellets work great for what we use them for! When we shoot distance we like to shoot slugs, at least for the time being 😁

my co2 armscor converted in pcp is way much better to shoot and group in 80 yards than that.
