The top weaver/picatinny rail on the top of the rifle is cast aluminum not plastic. I had to replace mine because they were way out of alignment from the factory. It just seems to me they could check it at the factory to see if at least they were level with each other. My back rail canted left and up while the front canted right and down. It made mounting a scope almost impossible. I kept running out of windage and elevation on both a Hawk and a UTG scope. It wouldn't hold zero. i thought the rifle was bad till I pulled the scope off and checked both front and rear rails. BINGO! Now the rifle (.22 cal) is a tack driver!

Have noticed that my rifle likes about 30 seconds between shots for reg to settle once below 3000 psi. This was notice when printing groups at 100 yds. Not really an issue at 50 yds and closer.

Old fellow here - found the standard .22 cal Avenger to be a bit long and heavy, so I bought it's cousin, the Bullpup. Shorter, yes - but HEAVIER than the rifle!!! Didn't expect that, and obviously didn't research any weight difference. Oh well - the Iguanas won't be able to tell the difference anyway. Great guns - especially with a DonnyFL muffler.

Just got a avenge-x. Zeroed it and fired 4 shots at 20 yards not messing with any settings. 3 where quarter size and the 4th was user error (slightly outside quarter). I'm sure I could get them closer by messing with the settings. Not experienced in PCP but I have a feeling it has too much psi. Having a bipod and a gun rest would likely help too. This is my first PCP and I'm very happy with it so far. Hi Steve, I love all the programs you put out. I learn something from each one. I’m buying a AEA hp as plus .22 witch is a non regulated rifle with a power wheel. All the programs I watched have shown crono # in the 980-920 over 3 mags then low 900’s high 800’s for the next 2 and low 800’s to high 700’s until it won’t index the next pellet. My thoughts are can I start with the power wheel turned down to get the fps to 880-825 and after 3 mags or watching the gauge clicking the power wheel up trying to keep the the shot string as flat as possible. Sent the same comment to PJ just wondering what your thoughts are. I’m a 25-75 yard shooter

Who wants to shoot slugs I leave some tips. Increase the transfer port of the barrel and block and trigger to 5 mm. Make a pre-chamber with something like 25 to 30 cc at least. Put a lighter trigger spring. So my .22 is getting 295 ms with 21.2 grain slugs with 2.200 psi on the reg! With a little more pressure on the reg you will be able to cast slugs of 25 grains or more at 290 ms, of course, it takes air but it's worth it! Also, check the pipe! Make shims with pieces of tin to fix it 100%, glue the centralizers to the barrel so they don't move! And most importantly, on the centralizer that is next to the block add one more screw on the other side, it NEEDS 2 screws to keep it firm! With these modifications my airgun became powerful and I solved the problem with the diagonal change of POI. NOTE For maximum accuracy with slugs use higher pressures such as 2400 to 2700 PSI!

Excellent vid on Tuning and Pat over at Pyramyd put me onto it. I have one big question,,, How do these tuning numbers relate to a .25 cal. model? I am assuming that maybe 2800 on the Regulator is going to be the "Sweet Spot" for the Power Tune and maybe 1900 for the Pro Tune? I have JSB Exact 25 gr pellets and JSB Kings at 34 gr. Will be using the 25 gr ones most, but need to understand how the gun looks at heavier pellets, as I want to use Kings for hunting larger game. I assume that the big difference will be in the Trajectory of the different pellets. The other thing,,, how much does the trajectory change over the different tune levels? And how far below the Regulator setting before the Trajectory changes noticeably. Or do I have to do Ladder Targets to see exactly what is happening. With 3000+ rounds thru your gun I'd expect that you would have all this sussed out pretty thoroughly. What I saw in the video was velocity changing very little between Tunes. All of this is new to me as none of my Weihrauch Springers are remotely close to the Velocities this thing generates. My R1 is at 625 fps with JSB 18 gr pellets. My Avenger came out after the $10 pre service, running 20 gr pellets at 860-870 fps. Been shooting good Springers since 1977, but PCP's are completely different. www.buchananprecisionmachine.com

Hi steve i have a bengamin cayden in 22 call it seams to shoot about 60 fps slower than most on the forums and here i have cheaked the barrel orings and breech seal by a vacume test and there is no leaks there and this is with a 3000 psi fill and transfer port fully open.If i set my hammer spring In to 6 and a half cw turns from full ccw i can get average of 890-894 fps with jsb cometa 15.89 gr pellets even with the hammer spring set at 50% thats still a little slow for this gun and pellet comb.The cayden has full 14 turns of adjustment from full ccw to full clockwise and when spring bind reached it takes 2 turns out to get hammer to cock.so there are for sure 12 full turns of adjustment.When set at 6.5 turns preload i only get about 24 full power shots befour my fps drops to more than 4% for 50 yards.She is a tack driver for sure.If set at 2 and a half turns preload cw or in from full ccw with the jsb 15.89s in 5.52 head size it will average about 864 fps for about 36 shots befour the fps starts to drop.Does this sound normal for this cayden.Thanks a bunch and i love your channel ..

Fairly sure the reason the yellow/orange is on the regulator gauge is because the regulator needs to be set higher to be able to hold pressure. When I set mine anywhere in the yellow the regulator seems to leak but not when its increased above there.

The only valid point to this video is the fact it is now a free floating barrel. In my opinion, and what I did, is take the “air scrubber” off the barrel inside the shroud. Sound was no different, but then the barrel was floating free inside the shroud. I run my regulator at 2100 psi and shoot NSA 20.2 grain at 900fps and have that same accuracy. Free floating the barrel makes all the difference. Before, if I put a little weight in the stock, while shooting, that weight transferred to the bi pods and my POI would raise. Free floating that barrel is key to make these guns shoot right

Well for me that's good, because I missed out the first time. Hi Steve, I'm looking to buy this rifle and I heard you say in the video that I it can get 25fpe in the eco tune and get 100+ shots at 800ish fps. I will be using a hand pump at first until I can get a scuba tank. With the air tube empty, up to what pressure do I have to pump to achieve the 1800pci at the regulator and get that 800fps? That's going to be my operating setting for some time until I've mastered it and then move up to get more fpe. Will it be a big effort to pump the gun to be able to shoot at 1800psi?

I would like an explanation of the concern over shot string. (Leaving out competition) My buddies and I all had S&W 77A pumpers in our tween years 4 decades ago. We never went though 50 pellets during many all day hike & hunt outings.
@jakegarrett8109 Жыл бұрын
Well when I was a poor farm boy I'd go through a brick of .22 (550 rounds), and my buddy the same, so sometimes I'd put 1k rounds of 22lr through my pewpew in 1 day. I also enjoyed BB and pellet (because again I was really poor, I couldn't afford .22 all the time), and Id probably go through a few hundred in a day. As these PCP are fired, the main tank pressure drops, so after a string of shots you have to refill them which takes a while. If you're out in a field and don't have lots of money for spare air tanks then that's it, you can't do any more unless you're pumping it up by hand. Even still last time I was in a location I was allowed to keep and bear arms, I went through quite a few CO2 tanks (my favorite one I get about 270 to 320 BBs on a single tank, so you do the math if I'm running through half a dozen tanks in it before switching to other ones I own). That's in like an hour or two of play... I also now have money to burn, so if we had a 2nd amendment in the US I'd have pallets of 50 BMG tracer rounds being delivered to my doorstep ASAP, but sadly where I'm at you can't even legally own a .22 hand pewpew without bribes and all sorts of hoops to jump through, and even nearby even water squirt toys and airsoft etc are illegal to own even if they are locked up in a safe. Like it's really bad around here, so I have to wait a long time and only maybe 2 or 3 times a year get to enjoy playing with BB and pellet toys when I used to put thousands of BBs through them a month (even in the snow or windstorms I was out playing and having a blast).
@tedwright1380 Жыл бұрын
@jakegarrett8109 I think where the difference in our experience lies. Is that outside of zeroing when I send a projectile down range a life is taken. And I've never taken a bricks worth (500 rds) of squirrels or what have you in a day.
@jakegarrett8109 Жыл бұрын
@@tedwright1380 yeah I like plinking. When I go hunting it's sometimes above 1 bird per pellet (get several in a line). Otherwise even 650 fps .177 BB does fine for taking out rabbits (2 out of 2 attempts worked flawless, go for the eye in an angle that pushes it through the weak spot of the skull where it's thin between the eye and the brain). My disabled dog however (he used to love to hunt), well he could only eat so many and I wasn't trying to eliminate the population, just give him a treat once in a while. So you can hunt or plink with these, but plinking is where you save the most money with PCP (otherwise I think .22 would be much cheaper even long run)
@tedwright1380 Жыл бұрын
@jakegarrett8109 I agree with all of your points. But here in Commiefornia an air rifle draws far less attention and you don't have to have a state approved ammo card to buy pellets (YET)!!!
@jakegarrett8109 Жыл бұрын
@@tedwright1380 I'm in Maryland, it's even worse. Here you can't even own a .22 hand pewpew even inside your home without bribes. Then nearby even airsoft and water squirt toys are illegal to own (even non firing toys), even if they are locked in your safe unloaded of water droplets. Also many counties in MD even Nerf or slingshots etc are all illegal to use in your own home or backyard. Airguns are so discriminated against I sadly have to leave mine in another state and can't play with them even though I've got plenty of space to do so safely. If only we had a 2nd amendment in the US, then we wouldn't have to look up laws when transporting paintball or airsoft toys, and we would be freely allowed to create/modify/and use devices in a safe manner that leaves 0 victims. Sadly we'd have to go to another country for that.
