When my husband had to have his cancerous bladder removed at Kaiser Sunset in Los Angeles I used an AirBNB for the first time. It was a flat behind the owners home and across the street from the hospital. It was less money than the only dirty Motel down the street. I felt blessed to have found it during such a difficult time and the hosts were awesome. I left it as I found it. Sad to see people exploiting this wonderful opportunity.

Apparently you've never traveled outside the US. it's very common in other countries. The UK in particular is known for it - I traveled all over Ireland using B&Bs and I made some great contacts. You do run into some less-than-perfect places - I did bail on one upon arrival, wasn't clean or nice, but that was the only one for two weeks of traveling. Families get extra money renting out a room or two and fixing breakfast for their lodgers. That was before the AirBnB days, though. I'm sure it's got its share of shadiness now, too.
@thekawaiicripple7 жыл бұрын
+zhppilot well usually the airbnb place you rent is all to yourself the person who owns it isn't there and doesn't stay there that'd be so weird and scary I mean some people do just rent out one room/stay in a room with others you can do that which I personally wouldn't do but I've rented out the entire apartment or entire house on airbnb and it was nice and didn't even have to have any in person interactions with the host himself
@sindy1137 жыл бұрын
thank god there are people who do that. Do you know how much hotels cost? traveling would be pretty limited without airbnb if you're not rich
@AbsentWithoutLeaving7 жыл бұрын
Ari Dennis - I've rented rooms or suites for a day or two in private apartments or homes via airbnb while traveling in Europe, had nothing but positive experiences. But I did as much homework as possible beforehand, and was ready to jump ship if upon arrival I felt any sense of weirdness or insecurity. Not sure that I would share a space like that in the US, though. I have rented entire houses or condos when traveling with a group here in the US, but no rooms traveling as an individual. The US doesn't have the same B&B history as Europe and the UK, it's grown more as a result of the internet rental industry, and also there's too much weirdness going on over here.

Shooting someone because they can’t handle it on their own means without completely destroying their entire life is just an insult to your own moral values. No house is worth someone’s life. I don’t care how high and mighty you think you are. Yes I would rather have someone else lose 50,000 other than me but not at the cost of ones life. Yes we’re not talking about death but a shot to the knee will completely make that leg useless. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars that would be worth more than your house, making that person you shot all better. Not only does it affect him but you’re affecting his entire family and friends. All because you were inconvenienced and all because you didn’t want to put In the effort to handle it in a better situation for everyone. There are FAAAAAAAR worse things that could happen. Don’t act like a material object is worth more than a life. Otherwise you’ve lived for nothing. And at that rate along with your shit morals would should get you shot. But even so, your terrible morals shouldn’t be punished by pain. The path you’re on leads to the dark side. Hate only spreads hate. Ideally meant to protect people who rent long term so they cant just be kicked out they need to be evicted. Which is a good thing because I would not want my landlord in the middle of a 12 month lease just come in one day and tell me to leave. Depending on the state if you let someone stay at your house for a extended amount of time then you cant just kick them out you have to go to court and get a eviction. Hotels I think are exempt and can just kick people out but airbnb does not make you a official hotel.
@farziran87m66 жыл бұрын
Yes if you have a lease and don't violate. But the law where I live says 14 day notice for non payment. Tenants will show up say they didn't pay and be given extension after extension it usually takes 4 months and mind you this is TAW not a lease. Buildings are abandoned and ruined. Rental laws are not even enforced non paying bums stay for months

In my state you need to have a written agreement from both parties that agree to the staying of certain time and after that the homeowner has the right to kick you out, skipping the eviction process and it automatically kicks out squatters. Just letting you know in the case of that woman Poonam - where the squatters remained there for a duration of a month, had she done the same (arrive with a firearm) she could've been arrested for threatening and endangering lives. As under current law, they would've been deemed as renters. It's the equivalent to a landlord showing up armed at a renters apartment demanding they vacate premise, it simply doesn't work that way.

Mrs Sandhu could have paid someone $500 to 'break into' her home and ask the 'tenants' to leave. If they refused, then shoot one of them in front of their partner (doesn't matter which one; just do it quickly and make sure it's loud). Then tell the surviving tenant to grab the body and drag it out, off of the property and to the curb. If he hesitates or refuses, then shoot him, too. But you might want to just 'wing'im' if you think you might still be able to persuade that survivor to drag his dead partner out to the curb. And you gotta remember that if they're dead, the chances of getting any money back is pretty slim. Also, dragging both bodies out by your self is really hard- especially if rigormortise sets in. Watch your back; and remember to lift with your legs. These situations become a problem the minute your problem tenants sense you are too weak to enforce the rules.

I rent through airbnb and have found the vast majority of people try to extort money by threatening bad feedback if they don't get a partial refund, when I refuse, I get bad feedback and airbnb says that the feedback can't be removed because its freedom of speech, but when you get less than a 4 star rating your property is suspended from their site... Airbnb says it takes extortion very seriously but doesn't do anything to protect the home owner when it happens.
@millersayshihowboutu7 жыл бұрын
Some sites will work with you and even if they don't just say fuck it and make fake accounts and leave good reviews.
@arianefr787 жыл бұрын
You can't do that anymore, they are getting smart, if the review comes from the same IP address (whatever email account etc.. you set up) then they know it comes from the host and on top of that they can delete your account and not refund your subscription to their site... With airbnb only a person who has paid through their site can leave feedback... so if you wanted a friend to pretend to stay they would have to book and PAY for the stay and pay the fees on top of that which are 10% then the host has another 3% taken off towards more fees so you would be paying a lot of fees from both sides just to bump up your own feedback... for example on a 400EUR rental the traveller pays 40EUR fees and the host pays 12EUR so the host would get 388EUR but your friend would have paid out 440EUR so you would lose on a total of 52EUR just for a good review... and if you do the maths, if a happy person leaves a 5 star review and the unhappy person leave a 1 star review, makes your average a 3, so your average is immediately below their 4 star minimum so for every bad review you would have to have a perfect review to stay in the game... which on a 400E rental you would have to pay out of your own money 52 euros every bad review just to stay in the game... They have got us by the short and curlies...

The people who rented out these homes had no experience in the rental business. They made simple mistakes that cost them. Every renter/hotel owner/Management company knows people suck. I've used AirB&B 3 times in the last year and every experience seems to be better than the last. We stalk the ratings section and we read a ton of reviews old and new. Never discount a bad review even in a sea of good ones. The more pictures a rentee posts the better. Clear, bright photos, that show every angle of the rental. Read their house rules very closely, the refund policy, read everything! We used the service last month and the owners provided us with basically everything that we'd need. Boogie boards, beach umbrellas & chairs, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, first aid kit. They had board games, books, binoculars it was freaking awesome. Those are the things that you look for when your renting. The owner's attention to detail is extremely important.

They make it seem like it's Airbnb's fault. The woman chose to go off the books and collect payment on her own. And the party house was covered by Airbnb. They did everything right, wth

I think I'd just walk around my home rambling incoherently with my AR in my hands. See how long they want to stick around then.

+Ashlynn Vania The camera was in the room which she tolled that girl not to go in and was locked.. Did you not listen to the video?

Very simple. Leave the house, call 911 and report a home invasion. Suspect with a gun and hang up.
@MsLaetitia267 жыл бұрын
Mark Kilian don't do that. change the front door lock and put their stuff on the street, call police if they try to force their way back. if they still don't want to leave put all the furniture in a temporary storage including fridge etc... and dine out for a while, have someone check on them, the moment they left, change the lock. or pretend to leave the town for a few days, the moment thry go out, change the locks.

Minniemoo247 you cant do that you can get arrested for changing the lock
