That was so far the best and most comprehensive airbrush 101 video by any minipainting youtuber.

I wasn't sure if it was too much or not enough since I was trying to keep things snappy so it didn't become a 20 minute video, so thanks for that 😸

I love using Silly Putty to cover the parts of the model I don’t want airbrushed. By no means original, but super useful! Great video!

I mention masking in my advanced airbrushing video I had already done. Unfortunately silly putty has become really hard to come by for me so sticky tack is all I can manage x_x

Man, what a great video. I just got my first airbrush and asked for tips on reddit. Someone shared this one. I had watched about 15 up until that point. Whatever KZbin's SEO threw at me. This one was by far the best. So many questions that seemed like obvious things to ask that no one else even brought up... hit them all. Great job. Have a sub and a like man!

Interesting. I never thought about mixing matt medium with thinner to create my own flow aid. I've just been mixing Vallejo's airbrush thinner and flow improver with the paint in the cup.

Having just gotten my first cheap-o airbrush this week, your video could not have come at a better time :)

There were lots of threads on reddit about people getting new airbrushes for xmas so it seemed like a good first new year video 😄

I get that the trigger can be used to lightly restrict airflow, but that's a set of muscle control that's irregular, unmeasurable, and if consistently utilized, will lead to unnecessary fatigue. Set your air flow and pressure at the regulator. If you have a micro air control dial at the front of the airbrush, you can fine tune there. Don't push this idea of micro-controlling your airflow at the trigger by how far you press it down.

Super good video, and just in time! I'm thinking of getting an airbrush next month, so all of these tips are extremely useful.

So you use green stuff world VARNISH as a medium? Interesting.
@PaintmanJourneying Жыл бұрын
It's not a traditional polyurethane varnish I don't belive. And it actually says in the fine print on the bottle that it can be used with paint mixed in as a medium.

@@PaintmanJourneying funny story: I have a bottle of said product on the way as I heard it is very good as a super matt varnish. So I will get to test it as a medium. Thanks!
@PaintmanJourneying Жыл бұрын
@@prava163 It's great as both honestly, I use it during painting and a matte coat after. May matte products tend to get cloudy if you thin them or stay satin if thinned. I've added more than half water or flow aid into it when applying as a varnish and it still worked just perfectly every time. So on that I definitely agree, anyone looking for a testors dulcote replacement, Maxx matte is it.

What is your thinner medium recipe?
@PaintmanJourneying Жыл бұрын
I usually just use GSW Maxx Matt as my airbrush medium, but if making your own it looked like 3 part thick medium to 1 part thinner was about right, but it would really depend on the paint you use as well as how thin you like it, might be more towards a 2:1 for some peoples preference.
