This is fantastic ! I’ve used a few of the techniques you’ve discussed here and in your other videos on my armor models. I’ve been armor modeling for 30 years and just bought my first two plane kits; 1/48 F/A-18C & a 1/32 F-16I SUFA. I also wanted to say your panel fading with white oil paint works wonderfully. Your videos are much appreciated and thanks for sharing your skills.

Thank you for the kind words, Johan, and for taking the opportunity to share your feedback. I'm glad that you are enjoying the videos and that they are providing some helpful information/techniques. I have thought about trying my hand at some armor in the future so wish me luck there. Those are two great aircraft kits you have picked up. Look forward to seeing how they turn out. Feel free to share them over on my facebook page: facebook/flyingSmodels or through the contact section on my website: flyingSmodels.com. Happy modeling!

I am trying to get better with detailing because I am terrible. I was under the impression that you shouldn't use enamels or mineral spirits over acrylic paint? Obviously you did so it works. Do you just need to be sure the acrylic is really dry first?

Practice makes perfect so keep working at it. I don't really wait all that long before applying the wash over acrylic paint. The modern acrylic model paints are pretty durable when it comes to these types of washes. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@@FlyingSModels Many questions. But i think it best to watch a few more of your videos first. I *really* appreciate the response though.

Is that a iwata airbrush? I have the bottle feed one but I don't think its great for airbrushing models. I would like to get another iwata cup feed but at hobby lobby they are 150 dollars. I know the 40% off thing helps but I really don't have that money to spare.

That's actually my old Tamiya Super Fine HG airbrush. I really like the Badger I'm using at the moment and it's only around 100 bucks. Still may be a bit too expensive though. Here's a link if you want to check it out: amzn.to/3urSWje

Chad, when you mention the 50/50 Tamiya mix for your custom US Interior Green, are you referring to XF-5 and XF-4 ?
@FlyingSModels4 жыл бұрын
Yes, Ted, those are the ones. Sorry for not calling them out by their "X" numbers. That would have been more helpful.

FlyingSModels No worries. I like your shade and want to be sure I had it right

Scott - what do you use to thin your Tamiya acrylics? Thanks.
