The reason ATC is telling you to descend/climb when it appears you already are at the altitude - is because your altimeter is set to standard (29.92). Below 18,000 ft, press B to set the barometric pressure given by ATC. Above 18,000ft, all aircraft transfer to “flight levels”, and everyone sets their altimeter to 29.92. 18,000ft becomes FL180. This allows for everyone to be on the same page on their altimeter. Hope that helps

Absolutely true what you have said about ATC it can be weird at times, ie climb to 7,000 feet when fifteen miles from touchdown and ILS engaged, cancel flight following at this time ?? why ?? Also when selecting the destination air port how can you select the runway to land into the wind ? Having said that the FS is simply brilliant. One more comment the ground services, ie pushback, connect the walkway can be very odd at times. Finally don't ask the first officer to do anything other than take off as he gets totally confused, well at least he does with me. Has anybody else had issues with first officer ?

Are you pressing the approach button once you have intercepted the localiser? When your pink/ purple diamonds begin to start lining up that’s when you press approach on the auto pilot. Is that you in your picture btw? If so great physique
@TheRealBigT19843 жыл бұрын
I have the Xbox version, and still getting used to it. For the Speed Brakes, you can either do "Armed," or a percentage from 0%-100%. If you want to have them engage, should they be armed or set to 0%, with Auto-Brakes set to MED/MAX? I also struggle with the approach and also being at the right altitude at the right time w/ the right speed. Seems like I can never get the managed altitude/speed/etc. to engage, and I have to manually set my altitudes and speed.
@OzzySafa3 жыл бұрын
Speed breaks set them to arm and make sure you slow down in steps with each stage of flap opened. Make sure when full flaps engage approach speed is near 140kts if it’s faster it’ll be harder for the flare . Auto break set it to medium and you should be fine make sure the thrust setting is correctly set to climb
@TheRealBigT19843 жыл бұрын
@@OzzySafa so if they are ARMED, then they will catch with the autobreaks? I also didn't know it mattered to have it in the climb detent, since AutoThrust was active. I have it on Xbox, and the hardest part I have is trying to flare at them end, while also holding the B button to Retard my thrust on landing. Thinking of getting the turtle beach flight setup when it comes out.
@OzzySafa3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealBigT1984 yes the thrust levers being on climb is the most important. Otherwise the auto thrust won’t work properly. Try putting the thrust to idle when you hear the 30 call out and it should give it enough time to slow down some airbus pilots do this in real life. As soon as the wheels touch engage revers thrust but yes having physically thrust levers will make it much easier instead of pressing buttons.

@@OzzySafa thanks a lot! Tried it tonight and had my smoothest landing by far. Speed was good, spoilers/brakes popped up on landing, etc. Kept it on AP until around 200 feet, then turned it off and flared around 30, while setting thrust to Idle.

I've found as recently as this week that the Series X version of FS2020 bugs out when following IFR/ILS; Coms tells you to be at one FL and the FMS tells you to be at a completely different level. As a real world pilot this is quite annoying. As a sim player its extremely frustrating. And the fact that you can't actually utilize the FMS system on the Xbox version... *womp*
