Airbus A340-300 Night Takeoff in Johannesburg FAJS

i took off from the exact same runway but in an a340-600 and i remember it was configured to flaps 1, i never forget this things xD that airport is great because it has it balconys upstairs and when you land, while you exit you always get a gift, maybe material, maybe a very gentle personal worker from the airport says welcome, i had a lot of fun :D great video

dnhug, the aircraft appears to be taxiing along the same route as the BA 747 which recently clipped the building. Unfortunately, this clip is edited with the (now important) section removed. Do you by any chance have the full version available to upload? Thanks

Interesting visual effects on the camera sensor around VR and actual takeoff :-) Looks like Rwy 03L/21R could use a bit of resurfacing. Haven't seen vibrations like those in a while. Great video though.

@bill330 The packs are what we call the air conditioning. The airconditioning in jet aircraft is fed by bleed air from the engines, so if they are disengaged, more power from the engines is available for actual thrust production, hence giving the aircraft some more ease taking off. This is especially important in airports with short runways when the aircraft is near maximum takeoff weight and at hot & hight airports (such as JNB), where the takeoff run is rather long anyway.
