What's so crazy is knowing that by the time the plane touches down. It's still about 2-3 miles or so away from the camera (not taking into account zoom level) and still looks absolutely massive.

I am surprised they did not shut down the two outboard engines while they were taxiing back after landing. Impressive plane for sure. That same plane from Emirates flies directly over my house at 12,000 ft inbound to Dulles Airport twice a day. Never fail to enjoy the view.
@briannehls883 ай бұрын
Why would one shut down the outboard engines in this instance? I know one or two things about that aircraft after having flown it for 8 years and find your comment peculiar. Different airports have different restrictions regarding inner or outer engines remaining at idle thrust while taxiing on various taxiways or in general, of course. But again, your question about the outer ones perplexes me in regard to the advantage the outboard engines running provide with that relatively low speed turn onto the gate...Cheers!
@ronsullivan1323 ай бұрын
@@briannehls88 Without having both engines running on the wing to provide equal thrust, just having the outboards would put more stress on the weaker part of the wing, that being the outboard. Granted I am sure taxi thrust does not amount to much in the scheme of things. That said to me it would just be for the fuel savings of not needing four engines to taxi. Granted not much on a short taxi, but add that up over a year's time and across the entire fleet I am sure it would amount to a nice savings. I know nothing about the hydraulic, HAVC or electrical busses, so maybe there is some engineering reason that could not be done. I can remember my time in the Air Force I would see C-130s at time with just two inboard props running after landing and taxiing back too. Hope that makes some sense to you. Thanks for the respectful comment too!

We flew the BA A380 first class from SFO to London. Had sleeping compartment. Probably the most comfortable flight we've ever experienced. On the way home we had the 747 first class. Not as nice but still a good flight. And by the way, I used accumulated mileage to pay for the trip, so it was doable.

Hats Off to the Camera Guy. Wonderful Job. This pilot crew has one hellava sky streetrod. That must be 360K Hp minimum. Fuel maybe 4000 gal a min. Ill have to verify in edit. That wing is Huge. I serviced L-1011's, and our APU was never showing the flame this one was doing, as if used for taxi thrust. What a beast. Cheers
