Gary Vale I guess this video is from an old operating manual. Look at the Pan Am plane behind. I bet it's from late 80's, and I was probably not intended to be viewed by general public.

@ninoboeing Assuming ytou mean why the fan is rotating, it is "wind-milling". The fan causes the fan to turn as it passes through it because there are no brakes on the rotor.

In the video the fan moves slow hehe sometimes i m scary because the speed they get with wind storm, but it s only dangerous if you put a hand into it :P Even so, sometimes i stop the engine putting my hands (with gloves) in the spinner and it slow down until it stops to wacht carefuly the blades for inspection. You can put the chokes of the airplane if you want, but what if you forget them when the job if done? Let it roll :P

Wind will make a turbofan turn. Since thee fan blades are all loose, it sounds like the bearings are all bad or something. Kinda neat.

This really brought memories for me; that was, working on the Avionics of the TF-33 Fan Jet engine (on the USAF C-141). Many procedures, that we did, required the use of 20 or more "danger tags", in the cockpit - secured around "handles", "Switches", many, many circuit breakers, et al. Generally took longer to put up all the Danger Tags than it did to do "the procedure". Thanks,
@jeteon

@ninoboeing Sorry, my spelling wasn't so great in my reply either. I meant the wind makes the fan turn. Anyway, I hope it was helpful.

The wind moves it, the axis are free rotating. Lovely engine to work with, not alike V2500, awfull engine although it has a bit more of power and range.

This is the aviation industry standards, feet for altitude, nautical mile for distance, and knot for velocity. This is used through out the world with acception of China IIRC. Although there are some differences in terms of weight and pressure measurement. US use inHg for their pressure and lbs for their weight. Other countries on the other hand use milibars and kilogram.

Hey, didn't and #AirbusA380 lose a cowling or part of one in-flight? I think I read about parts falling off their aircraft A-380 early on and hope they've fixed these issues by now.
@TheRabbitFear
@TheRabbitFear 10 жыл бұрын
it was blown apart because of an uncontained engine failure it had nothing to do with the engine cowling itself the problem was in a defective oil pipe inside the engine its been long since fixed
